Western Province City cricket team was a Sri Lankan First-class cricket team. The team was established in 1991 and featured only in the Inter-Provincial First Class Tournament. The team won three championships.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board is the official governing body of cricket in Afghanistan. It is Afghanistan's representative at the International Cricket Council (ICC) and was an associate member of ICC from June 2013 until becoming a full member in June 2017. Before that it was an affiliate member and has been a member of that body since 2001. It is also a member of the Asian Cricket Council.

Inter-Provincial Cricket was a cricket tournament that included the three domestic cricket competitions in Sri Lanka. It started with the Inter-Provincial First Class Tournament in 1990 because of the general idea that club cricket alone would be not enough to keep Sri Lanka cricket competitive. The tournament stopped after the 1994–95 season but was revived 10 years later with the 2003–04 season and disestablished again in 2010. Sri Lanka remains today as the only Test cricket playing country to have club cricket as their form of first-class cricket with the Premier Trophy. The Inter-Provincial Limited Over Tournament and Inter-Provincial Twenty20 were created for the 2007–08 domestic season. The last First Class Tournament was held in 2009–10. The Twenty20 tournament was last held in 2011 and subsequently replaced by the Sri Lanka Premier League.

Kandurata cricket team was a Sri Lankan first class cricket team based in Kandy, that represented Central Province of Sri Lanka. Kandurata competed in all three provincial tournaments:the first class cricket competition known as the Inter-Provincial First Class Tournament, the List A cricket competition known as the Inter-Provincial Limited Over Tournament and the Twenty20 competition known as the Inter-Provincial Twenty20.

Wayamba cricket team was a Sri Lankan first class cricket team based in Kurunegala, that represented North Western Province. It drew cricketers from Sri Lanka Premier Trophy. The team competed in two provincial tournaments: the first class cricket competition known as the Inter-Provincial Tournament, and the Twenty20 competition known as the Inter-Provincial Twenty20. Also Wayamba province cricket team became joint champions with Kandurata in the 2007/08 Inter-Provincial Limited overs tournament after the finals match drawn due to rain.

Cricket in Afghanistan is the most popular sport in the country, which is represented internationally by the Afghanistan national cricket team. Afghanistan's border with the Test playing nation of Pakistan has helped the game to take root. Pakistan's former batsman Inzamam ul Haq has coached the Afghan national team in the past. Afghanistan became a full member of the International Cricket Council on 22 June 2017, enabling the national team to participate in official Test matches.

Ruhuna cricket team was one of the five provincial cricket teams that took part in Sri Lankan Inter-Provincial Tournament, representing Southern Province. The Ruhuna cricket team was based in Galle. It drew cricketers from Sri Lanka Premier Trophy. Team colors were Red and Blue. Ruhuna cricket team took part in all three provincial tournaments: the first-class cricket competition known as the Inter-Provincial First Class Tournament, the List A competition known as the Inter-Provincial Limited Over Tournament and the Twenty20 competition known as the Inter-Provincial Twenty20.

Basnahira North cricket team represents northern region of Western Province, Sri Lanka in first-class cricket tournaments. Basnahira North is based in Colombo. The team competes in two Sri Lankan domestic cricket competitions. The first-class Inter-Provincial tournament and the Twenty20 competition known as the Inter-Provincial Twenty20. The team also participated in, now defunct, the Inter-Provincial Limited Overs Tournament in 2007–08. From 2009 onwards champions of the Inter-Provincial Twenty20 tournament will be eligible to represent Sri Lanka in Twenty20 Champions League. But Basnahira North did not win the title in this year. The team draws cricketers from first-class club competition Premier Limited Overs Tournament. The top 75 players of the tournament selected for the Inter-Provincial tournament.

Basnahira South cricket team is one of the five provincial cricket teams which make up the Sri Lankan domestic cricket structure representing southern region of Western province. Basnahira South is based in Colombo.The cricket team participate in the two provincial tournaments: the first-class cricket competition known as the Inter-Provincial Tournament, and the Twenty20 competition known as the Inter-Provincial Twenty20. They also participated in the 2007/08 Inter-Provincial Limited Overs Tournament. The tournament is defunct now. The top 75 players of the Premier Limited Overs Tournament take part in the Inter-Provincial tournament.

Inter-Provincial First Class Tournament was a domestic first-class cricket competition in Sri Lanka, held by Sri Lanka Cricket. It was a part of their Inter-Provincial Cricket program. From 2008 the Inter-Provincial First Class Tournament became the mainstream domestic first class competition in Sri Lanka, with the Premier Trophy being the other, which is played between the clubs in Sri Lanka. The tournament had begun in 1990 as Singer President's Trophy and was played continually for five years, until it was rebooted in 2003. Both Basnahira North and Western Province City, which is now merged into Basnahira North and South, have won the most tournaments, three each. The tournament hasn't been contested since 2010.

North Central Province cricket team was a Sri Lankan first class cricket team that represents North Central Province. The team was established in 2004 and only featured in two Inter-Provincial First Class Tournaments, the 2003-04 and 2004-05, both of which they came second to Kandurata. The team was captained by Mahela Jayawardene.

The Uva cricket team is a Sri Lankan first class cricket team that represents Uva Province. The team was established in 2004 and only featured in the 2003-04 season of the Inter-Provincial First Class Tournament. The team was captained by Chaminda Vaas. In 2011 the team will be returning for the 2010–11 Inter-Provincial Limited Over Tournament.

Western Province cricket team was a team that represented the Western Province of Sri Lanka in domestic first-class cricket in the Inter-Provincial Cricket Tournament. Western Province played three first-class matches in 1990, four in 2003–04, and three in 2004–05.

The Basnahira cricket team, based in Colombo and representing Western Province, was one of the seven Sri Lankan provincial cricket teams that took part in the Inter-Provincial Cricket tournaments. The team drew players from the Sri Lanka Premier Trophy, and their team colours were green and blue. Basnahira took part in all three provincial tournaments: the first-class cricket competition known as the Inter-Provincial First Class Tournament, the List A competition known as the Inter-Provincial Limited Over Tournament and the Twenty20 competition known as the Inter-Provincial Twenty20. As Western Province has the best infrastructure sometimes the team was divided into two teams: Basnahira North and Basnahira South.

Wayamba United was a franchise cricket team that took part in Sri Lanka Premier League, representing North Western Province. Wadhawan Holdings Private Limited purchased the team for $5.02 million in 2012 for a seven-year contract.

Western Province Suburbs cricket team was a Sri Lankan First-class cricket team. The team was established in 1991 and featured only in the Inter-Provincial First Class Tournament.

The Inter-Provincial Championship is a three-day cricket tournament in Ireland, played between regional teams drawn from three of Ireland's five provincial unions. The Western Province women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for part of the South African province of Western Cape, primarily based in Cape Town. They compete in the CSA Women's One-Day Cup and the CSA Women's T20 Challenge, and they are the most successful side in both competitions, with 9 and 7 title wins, respectively.
