Whatever's Clever! is the upcoming fourth studio album by American musician Charlie Puth, scheduled for release on March 6, 2026 via Atlantic Records. [2]
Puth first gave fans a preview of the album via the first show of a four-night residency at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York, where he played "Changes" as well as a few other unnamed songs from the album. [3] "Beat Yourself Up" was later identified as one of the songs Puth played. [4]
Whatever's Clever! was initially announced for release in early 2025, [5] but the initial release never came. The album's title and official release date were both announced on October 16, 2025 alongside the album's first single "Changes", with the album having a set release date of March 6, 2026. [2] It was announced alongside an announcement that Brooke Sansone was pregnant. [6] During an interview with ABC News, Puth stated that people can "expect the truth" on Whatever's Clever!, in that's "it's fun because i'm always figuring out what the sound is going to be first and then I fill in the lyrics after.", noting his change in the formula which "This album is the first time where i'm putting life first and letting melody follow". [6] The album will be available on CD, LP and cassette as well as streaming. [7]
"Changes" peaked at number 15 on the NZ Hot Singles Chart. [8] The song has a music video directed by Charlotte Rutherford, and hints at Sansone's pregnancy when Puth and Sansone put their hands up to her stomach and look down at it in a loving way. [9] Writing for Vulture, Fran Hoepfner noted the music video for the single "has a charming PBS feel to it, with Puth grooving in an office-hours-style getup and dancing alongside Claymation instruments.", also noting the song itself having a sound similar to "Late Night Talking" or the band Toto. [10] In a Billboard poll, 32% of the voters chose "Changes" as their favorite new song. [11]
Track information is based on the pre-release page for the album on Spotify. [12] The album will have 12 tracks and 7 features, as Puth confirmed on X (formerly Twitter), none of the features or tracks other than the first have been revealed. [13]
