When I Walk is a 2013 autobiographical documentary film directed by Jason DaSilva. The film follows DaSilva during the seven years following his diagnosis of primary progressive multiple sclerosis. When I Walk premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, [1] won Best Canadian Feature Documentary at the 2013 HotDocs Film Festival, [2] and won an Emmy for the News & Documentary Emmy Award. In 2006, 25-year-old established film-maker Jason DaSilva collapsed on a beach while on holiday, months after his diagnosis for multiple sclerosis. Realizing that his condition could no longer be ignored, he decided to produce a documentary. The film focuses on the changes in his relationships with his mother and partner as his condition develops.

DaSilva's story has since been expanded with a 2019 documentary sequel entitled When We Walk.

Critical response

When I Walk was positively received by critics. The film was named a Critic's Pick by The New York Times and Village Voice . [5] [6] On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 88% based on 17 reviews, with an average rating of 7.76/10. [7]

Life According to Sam is an HBO original documentary film directed by Sean Fine and Andrea Nix Fine. Premiering in January 2013 at the Sundance Film Festival, the documentary discloses the impact that progeria had on the lives of Sam Berns and his parents, Dr. Leslie Gordon and Dr. Scott Berns. AXS Map is a user-generated database of accessible locations in all major cities. Powered by GoogleMaps API, AXS Map functions by providing users with a database of locations that they can edit with ratings and reviews of accessibility metrics for disabled individuals. This in turn allows other users to see these reviews, screening which locations they choose to travel to, and adding their own reviews of the places they enter to expand the database. Vladimir Seixas is a Brazilian filmmaker and International Emmy nominee for best documentary. Vladimir has been working since 2008 on documentary direction and script. His debut short "Hiato" (Hiatus) was selected for several film festivals in the world, where he received 12 awards. The Hot Docs Award for Best Canadian Feature Documentary is an annual Canadian film award, presented by the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival to the film selected by jury members as the year's best Canadian feature film in the festival program. The award was presented for the first time in 1998; prior to that year, awards were presented in various genre categories, but no special distinction for Canadian films was presented. The award is sponsored by the Documentary Organization of Canada and Telefilm Canada, and carries a cash prize of $10,000.
