ITVS is a service in the United States which funds and presents documentaries on public television through distribution by PBS and American Public Television, new media projects on the Internet, and the weekly series Independent Lens on PBS. Aside from Independent Lens, ITVS funded and produced films for more than 40 television hours per year on the PBS series POV, Frontline, American Masters and American Experience. Some ITVS programs are produced along with organizations like Latino Public Broadcasting and KQED.
The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival is the largest documentary festival in North America. The event takes place annually in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The 27th edition of the festival took place online throughout May and June 2020. In addition to the annual festival, Hot Docs owns and operates the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, administers multiple production funds, and runs year-round screening programs including Doc Soup and Hot Docs Showcase.

Nosheen's 2012 radio documentary, "What Happened at Dos Erres?" aired on This American Life and was called "a masterpiece of storytelling" by The New Yorker.

His films included the documentaries Out of Mind, Out of Sight (2014), a film about patients at the Brockville Mental Health Centre, named best Canadian feature documentary at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival; NCR: Not Criminally Responsible (2013), exploring the personal impact of the mental disorder defence in Canada; Life with Murder (2010), The Lifer and the Lady and Parole Dance, and the 1986 made-for-television drama Turning to Stone, set in the Prison for Women in Kingston, Ontario.

Premiering in January 2013 at the Sundance Film Festival, the documentary discloses the impact that progeria had on the lives of Sam Berns and his parents, Dr. Leslie Gordon and Dr. Scott Berns. It was broadcast on HBO in October 2013, and since then it has won a 2013 Peabody Award and an Emmy Award for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking. It was also one of the 15 titles considered for nomination in the Documentary Feature category for the 86th Oscars.
Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi is an American documentary filmmaker. She was the director, along with her husband, Jimmy Chin, for the film Free Solo, which won the 2019 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. The film profiled Alex Honnold and his free solo climb of El Capitan in June 2017. Their first scripted film venture was Nyad, a biopic chronicling Diana Nyad's quest to be the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida.

AXS Map is a user-generated database of accessible locations in all major cities. Powered by GoogleMaps API, AXS Map functions by providing users with a database of locations that they can edit with ratings and reviews of accessibility metrics for disabled individuals. This in turn allows other users to see these reviews, screening which locations they choose to travel to, and adding their own reviews of the places they enter to expand the database. Rather than leaving accessibility reviews to specialists, AXS Map allows any member of the public to use the tool to report their experience. As well as offering accessibility ratings for the mobility impaired, AXS Map also reviews accessibility for the visually and hearing impaired.
Apollo 11 is a 2019 American documentary film edited, produced and directed by Todd Douglas Miller. It focuses on the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, the first spaceflight from which men walked on the Moon. The film consists solely of archival footage, including 70 mm film previously unreleased to the public, and does not feature narration, interviews or modern recreations. The Saturn V rocket, Apollo crew consisting of Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong, and Michael Collins, and Apollo program Earth-based mission operations engineers are prominently featured in the film.

Nicole Newnham is an American documentary film producer, writer, and director known for the Oscar-nominated movie Crip Camp (2020) which she co-directed and produced with James LeBrecht, and the multiple-Emmy-nominated film The Rape of Europa. With the Australian artist/director Lynette Wallworth, she produced the virtual reality work Collisions, which won the 2017 Emmy for Outstanding New Approaches to Documentary, and Awavena, which won the 2020 Emmy for Outstanding New Approaches to Documentary. Both Collisions and Awavena premiered simultaneously at Sundance and the World Economic Forum in Davos, and Awavena was selected for the 2018 Venice Biennale. Her most recent film, The Disappearance of Shere Hite, premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. That film also made the influential 2023 DOC NYC Awards Short List and won Special Mention for Editing, edited by Eileen Meyer.
Vladimir Seixas is a Brazilian filmmaker and International Emmy nominee for best documentary. Vladimir has been working since 2008 on documentary direction and script. His films investigate the social, political and cultural transformations in Brazil in recent years from the social and collective urban movements and also from the behavior of the crowds. His debut short "Hiato" (Hiatus) was selected for several film festivals in the world, where he received 12 awards. He directed the film "A Primeira Pedra" (The First Stone – The Rise of Lynching in Brazil), winner of TAL - Latin America TV on DocMontevideo for best documentary, winner of the bronze medal in the Human Rights category of the New York Festivals - TV & Film and was nominated for an 47th International Emmy Awards in 2019. Vladimir Seixas directed five short films, two feature films, a series and a telefilm, participating in more than 50 film and TV festivals around the world where he received several awards.
The Hot Docs Award for Best Canadian Feature Documentary is an annual Canadian film award, presented by the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival to the film selected by jury members as the year's best Canadian feature film in the festival program. The award was presented for the first time in 1998; prior to that year, awards were presented in various genre categories, but no special distinction for Canadian films was presented. The award is sponsored by the Documentary Organization of Canada and Telefilm Canada, and carries a cash prize of $10,000.

As a director, editor, and writer she has worked on feature documentaries and TV series for national and international cable TV and streamers. She is the recipient of the Sundance Institute/A&E Brave Storyteller Award, and her work has been recognized with art grants from the MacArthur Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Ben & Jerry's Foundation.
