Wichita Falls Sailing Club was founded in 1935 as Wichita Falls Yacht Club at Lake Wichita, in Wichita Falls. In 1973, the club moved to Lake Arrowhead. [2]
The club was first dominated by the Snipe fleet number 34, based at the club, [3] but in the 1960s the Windmill took over as the most popular boat. In the early 1970s, the first cabin boats, Venture 22 and 24, and in 1990 Flying Scot fleet number 170 was established at WFSC. [4]
Perry Richardson Bass won the 1935 Snipe Worlds. Later on, in 1972, as navigator for Ted Turner's "American Eagle", he won the Southern Ocean Racing Circuit and the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. [5]

The Albacore is a 4.57 m (15 ft) two-person planing dinghy with fractional sloop rig, for competitive racing and lake and near-inshore day sailing. Hulls are made of either wood or fiberglass. The basic shape was developed in 1954 from an Uffa Fox design, the Swordfish. Recent boats retain the same classic dimensions, and use modern materials and modern control systems.

The WoodPussy is a 13½’ catboat designed by Philip Rhodes. The first boats were constructed in 1945 by Palmer Scott Boat Works. These boats were wood with wooden masts. The class switched to fiberglass hulls, dacron sails and aluminum masts in the early 1960s. It is estimated that 800-850 hulls were constructed by Palmer Scott, MarScott and O'Day. The Weeks Yacht Yard in New York is now building new fiberglass WoodPussys.

Buccaneer Yacht Club is a member-run sailing club which has operated out of Mobile Bay, Alabama since 1928. It is a member club of the Gulf Yachting Association and the United States Sailing Association. Its members are active competitors in Finn, Viper 640, 420, Fish class sloop, Flying Scot, Laser, Optimist, Sunfish, PHRF and Portsmouth class events. While the Mobile Yacht Club predates it, BucYC remains arguably the oldest continuously operating sailing club in Alabama.
The Neenah Nodaway Yacht Club (NNYC) is based in Neenah, Wisconsin and was established in 1864. This makes it one of the oldest yacht clubs in the country. The Wawasee Yacht Club was formed in 1935 and is located at 6338 E Trusdell Ave. on the northeast shore of Lake Wawasee, Indiana. It currently has 75 families and 35 social members sailing 28-foot E-Scow, 19-foot Lightning, and 13-foot Sunfish class boats in three regattas held from June through early October.
