Wild Rivers is a Canadian folk band from Toronto, Ontario. It consists of Devan Glover (vocals), Khalid Yassein (vocals and guitar), and Andrew Oliver (guitar and synths). The band released their self-titled debut album in 2016. Their second studio album, Sidelines, was released on February 4, 2022. [1]

History

Wild Rivers was formed at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, originally as a two piece with Devan Glover and Khalid Yassein. [2]

In April 2016, the band released their self-titled debut album. [3] [4] In 2018, the group opened for Australian band The Paper Kites on the North American leg of their tour and released an EP titled Eighty-Eight. [2]

In 2019, Wild Rivers released the song "I Do". The following year the band released their second EP, Songs To Break Up To, through Nettwerk Music Group. [5] Later in 2020, Wild Rivers released the single "Pink Shades". [6] The group released another single in January 2021 titled "Love Gone Wrong". [7] In June, Wild Rivers released the single "Amsterdam". [8] Their second studio album, Sidelines, was released on February 4, 2022. [1] In March 2022, their single "Thinking 'Bout Love" was certified Gold in Canada. [9] It was certified Platinum in Australia in March 2024.3× Platinum [10]

They received a Juno Award nomination for Breakthrough Group of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2023. [11]

In 2023, they participated in an all-star recording of Serena Ryder's single "What I Wouldn't Do", which was released as a charity single to benefit Kids Help Phone's Feel Out Loud campaign for youth mental health. [12]

They will open up for American country music trio The Chicks for select dates on their upcoming World Tour in summer 2023. [13]

They were named after the unincorporated community of Hedley, British Columbia, a name chosen after members heard that it was for sale for $346,000. After lead singer Jacob Hoggard placed third on the second season of Canadian Idol in 2004, the group signed with Universal Music Canada and released their self-titled debut studio album the following year. Dallas Michael John Albert Green is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter and record producer who records under the name City and Colour. In 2005, he debuted his first full-length album, Sometimes, which achieved platinum certification in 2006. City and Colour began performing in small intimate venues between Alexisonfire tours. Thomas William Arnold Thacker, nicknamed Brown Tom, is a Canadian musician. He is the lead guitarist, lead singer and co-founder of the punk rock group Gob, and guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist for Sum 41. Thacker formed Gob with Theo Goutzinakis in 1993. Following Dave Baksh's departure from Sum 41 on May 11, 2006, Thacker was recruited as their touring guitarist, and then became an official member in 2009.
