Will Loconto is a musician, composer, and producer based in Austin, Texas. He is the lead vocalist/songwriter for the U.S. band T42, was a keyboardist for the band Information Society, and has composed music for various video game soundtracks including Daikatana . [1] [2] [3]
In 1989, Loconto replaced Jimron Goff as lead vocalist for the band T42, [3] [4] a Dallas area band that began in the Deep Ellum music scene in the late 1980s. [4]
Loconto quit T42 in 1993 in order to be the keyboardist in the synth band Information Society. [1] [2] [3]
Loconto left Information Society to work for Dallas-based computer game developer Ion Storm as a sound designer and composer. He was part of the initial design team for the game John Romero’s Daikatana . [1] [2] [5] He left Ion Storm in November 1998 and co-founded PC and video game developer Third Law Interactive, distributed by publishing company Gathering of Developers the same year. [5] Through Third Law Interactive, Loconto developed sound and music for Kiss: Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child . [5] [6]
In 2001, he founded Will Loconto Music and Sound, and audio production company for games, television, and film. [7]
T42 reunited in 2011 to release the album Voltage! and play several live shows. [4] [8] In August 2017, T42 released Hot On Top (Remastered), a remastered version of the 1989 cassette that led to their signing with Columbia Records. [9] Decoder, their first new music since 1992 was released in October 2017. [10] As of 2019, T42 is still playing live shows. [11]

Chiptune, also called 8-bit music, is a style of electronic music made using the programmable sound generator (PSG) sound chips or synthesizers in vintage arcade machines, computers and video game consoles. The term is commonly used to refer to tracker format music using extremely basic and small samples that an old computer or console could produce, as well as music that combines PSG sounds with modern musical styles. The music for the video game Grim Fandango was composed and produced by Peter McConnell and published by LucasArts in 1998. The soundtrack is a mix of South American folk music, jazz, swing and big band sounds, for the game story filled with adventure and intrigue set in a unique combination of film noir and Mexican folklore's Day of the Dead. The soundtrack garnered critical acclaim and remained subject of positive reviews and inclusion in critics' rankings for the two decades after its first release. The soundtrack was praised both as a stand-alone musical experience, as well as for its outstanding contribution to the overall game experience; capturing the spirit of the game, "gluing" the story together, and becoming "integral" to the success of the game.
