Roderick Raynor Paige served as the 7th United States Secretary of Education from 2001 to 2005. Paige, who grew up in Mississippi, moved from classroom teacher to college dean and school superintendent to be the first African American to serve as the nation's education chief.

Wade Houston is a former basketball player and coach who is currently President of Dry Ice Blasting Technologies, a division of Houston-Johnson, Inc. In 1962, Wade became the first African American to sign a basketball scholarship at the University of Louisville, where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. In 1970-71, Wade played and coached professional basketball in France, after which he became an assistant coach at the University of Louisville, then head coach at the University of Tennessee.

Philip Guthrie Hoffman was the fifth president of the University of Houston, and the first chancellor of the University of Houston System. While at the university, he was instrumental in obtaining state affiliation, transitioning to a racially integrated status, and expanding enrollment in multiple locations. Hoffman also served as president of the Texas Medical Center. Prior to his appointment as president of UH, he was a professor and administrator for several universities.

Goerke also served as an interim chancellor of the University of Houston System. He held an undergraduate degree from Eastern Michigan University, and a doctorate from Michigan State University.

Charles A. McClelland, Jr. was the police chief of the Houston Police Department (HPD) from 2010 through 2016. Joining the department in May 1977, McClelland worked his way up through the ranks, from rookie to assistant chief in 1998, before being asked to step in as acting chief. A graduate of the University of Houston–Downtown, University of Houston–Clear Lake, and the FBI National Academy, he oversaw the department's implementation of tasers and a real-time crime analysis program.
Dean M. Mortimer is a Republican member of the Idaho Senate, representing the District 30 since 2012. He previously represented District 32 in the Idaho Senate from 2008-2012. Moody Centennial Professorship in Architecture. He is a past president of the Texas Society of Architecture. He was dean of the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin from 1992-2001 and served as Founding Director of the Center of American Architecture and Design from 1982-1990. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an undergraduate receiving two degrees, one in Art and Design from the School of Architecture and one in Management from the Sloan School of Management. He also received his Master of Architecture from M.I.T.
Richard Adkerson is the current president, CEO and vice chairman of Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. with an established career in the mining sector. He has been in this role since December 2003. He is also known for his past role as chairman of the International Council on Mining and Metals.
