William Mather Swinden (1886-1964), was a male English international badminton player. [1]
Swinden born in Cheshire [2] was a winner of the 1923 Scottish Open and runner-up in the All England Open Badminton Championships. [3]
He was part of the English team that toured Canada in 1925 to promote the sport on behalf of the Canadian Badminton Association which had recently been formed in 1921. [4] [5]
The All England Open Badminton Championships is the world's oldest badminton tournament, held annually in England. With the introduction of the BWF's latest grading system, it was given Super Series status in 2007, upgraded to Super Series Premier status in 2011.
