Oliver Cromwell was an English statesman,politician,and soldier,widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of the British Isles. He came to prominence during the 1639 to 1653 Wars of the Three Kingdoms,initially as a senior commander in the Parliamentarian army and latterly as a politician. A leading advocate of the execution of Charles I in January 1649,which led to the establishment of The Protectorate,he ruled as Lord Protector from December 1653 until his death in September 1658. Cromwell remains a controversial figure due to his use of the army to acquire political power,and the brutality of his 1649 campaign in Ireland.

A small portion of land at the eastern end of the county belonged to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.

In 1991,the Oklahoma state legislature designated Enid the "purple martin capital of Oklahoma." Cromwell is a town in Seminole County,Oklahoma,United States. It is within the jurisdiction of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. The population was 238 at the time of the 2020 census. It was named for oilman Joe I. Cromwell,who platted the original town in 1923. The population soared to several thousand people in a few weeks,and lawlessness was rampant in the community. Retired legendary Old West lawman Bill Tilghman was hired as Town Marshal to restore order. Tilghman was shot to death the following year,the most notable event in Cromwell's history.
The Cromwellian conquest of Ireland or Cromwellian war in Ireland (1649–1653) was the re-conquest of Ireland by the forces of the English Parliament,led by Oliver Cromwell,during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. Cromwell invaded Ireland with the New Model Army on behalf of England's Rump Parliament in August 1649.

John William Elmer Thomas was a native of Indiana who moved to Oklahoma Territory in 1901,where he practiced law in Lawton. After statehood,he was elected to the first state senate,representing the Lawton area. In 1922,he ran successfully on the Democratic Party ticket for the U.S. House of Representatives from Oklahoma. He was the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate in 1926;he won this race and held the seat until 1950,when he lost the party nomination to A.S. (Mike) Monroney. Thomas returned to a private law practice in Washington,D.C.,and in 1957 moved his practice back to Lawton,where he died in 1965.
Bass Reeves was an enslaved Manservant,runaway slave,gunfighter,farmer,scout,tracker,Railroad Agent and Deputy U.S. Marshal. He spoke and understood the Five Civilized Tribal languages including Cherokee,Choctaw,Chickasaw,Seminole and Creek. Bass was one of the first African-American Deputy U.S. Marshals west of the Mississippi River mostly working in the deadly Indian Territory. The region was saturated with horse thieves,cattle rustlers,gunslingers,bandits,bootleggers,swindlers,and murderers. Bass made more than 3,000 to 4,000 arrests in his lifetime,only killing twenty men in the line of duty.

Wolf Hall is a 2009 historical novel by English author Hilary Mantel,published by Fourth Estate,named after the Seymour family's seat of Wolfhall,or Wulfhall,in Wiltshire. Set in the period from 1500 to 1535,Wolf Hall is a sympathetic fictionalised biography documenting the rapid rise to power of Thomas Cromwell in the court of Henry VIII through to the death of Sir Thomas More. The novel won both the Booker Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award. In 2012,The Observer named it as one of "The 10 best historical novels".
The 1938 United States Senate election in Oklahoma took place on November 8,1938. Incumbent Democratic Senator Elmer Thomas ran for re-election to a third term. He faced a spirited challenge in the Democratic primary from Congressman Gomer Smith and Governor E. W. Marland,but won the nomination with a slim plurality. In the general election,Thomas faced former State Senator Harry O. Glasser,the Republican nominee. Despite the nationwide trend favoring Republicans,Thomas overwhelmingly won re-election.
The 1914 United States Senate election in Oklahoma took place on November 3,1914. Incumbent Senator Thomas Gore,a Democrat,sought re-election in his first popular election. He was challenged by Republican nominee John H. Burford,a former Justice on the Territorial Oklahoma Supreme Court;Socialist nominee Patrick S. Nargle,a former U.S. Marshal;and Progressive nominee William O. Cromwell,the former State Attorney General. Despite the fact that the left-leaning vote was split several ways in the election,Gore won re-election in a landslide,receiving 48% of the vote to Burford's 29,Nagle's 21%,and Cromwell's 2%.
Caleb Sequan Williams is an American football quarterback. He played college football at Oklahoma and USC. Williams won the Heisman Trophy and several other awards with USC in 2022 after throwing for over 4,500 yards with 52 total touchdowns,the latter being a single-season school record.
