William R. Campbell (born 1900, date of death unknown) was a Scottish professional footballer. He was born in Townhill, near Dunfermline. [1]
At 18 he played for the Scottish teams Cowdenbeath, followed by Clackmannan. [1] After that however he moved to Canada where he, for two seasons, played for the Montreal Maroons Soccer Team. [2] [1] In 1928, he returned to Scotland, representing Alloa Athletic, and was from there scouted for Huddersfield Town. [1] He later played for Manchester City.
Dunfermline Athletic Football Club is a Scottish professional football club based in the city of Dunfermline, Fife. Founded in 1885, the club currently compete in the Scottish Championship after winning the 2022–23 Scottish League One title.
