Monford Merrill "Monte" Irvin was an American left fielder and right fielder in the Negro leagues and Major League Baseball (MLB) who played with the Newark Eagles,New York Giants (1949–1955) and Chicago Cubs (1956). He grew up in New Jersey and was a standout football player at Lincoln University. Irvin left Lincoln to spend several seasons in Negro league baseball. His career was interrupted by military service from 1943 to 1945.
Walter Fenner "Buck" Leonard was an American first baseman in Negro league baseball and in the Mexican League. After growing up in North Carolina,he played for the Homestead Grays between 1934 and 1950,batting fourth behind Josh Gibson for many years. The Grays teams of the 1930s and 1940s were considered some of the best teams in Negro league history. Leonard and Gibson are two of only nine players in league history to win multiple batting titles.
The Winston-Salem Dash are a Minor League Baseball team in Winston-Salem,North Carolina. They are a High-A team in the South Atlantic League and have been a farm team of the Chicago White Sox since 1997. The Dash began playing their home games at the Truist Stadium in 2010 after having Ernie Shore Field as their home from 1956 to 2009.
The Baltimore Elite Giants were a professional baseball team that played in the Negro leagues from 1920 to 1950. The team was established by Thomas T. Wilson,in Nashville,Tennessee as the semi-pro Nashville Standard Giants on March 26,1920. The team was renamed the Elite Giants in 1921,and moved to Baltimore,Maryland in 1938,where the team remained for the duration of their existence. The team and its fans pronounced the word "Elite" as "ee-light".
Rafael Miguel Noble Magee was a Cuban catcher in the Negro leagues and Major League Baseball (MLB) who played professionally in the United States and his native country between 1945 and 1961. Born in Central Hatillo,in what is now Palma Soriano,Santiago de Cuba Province,he batted and threw right handed and was listed as 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 m) tall and 210 pounds (95 kg).

He was a right-handed batter and thrower,measured 6 feet (1.8 m) tall and weighed 185 pounds (84 kg).
Douglas Clyde "Peahead" Walker was an American football and baseball player,and coach of American football,Canadian football,basketball,and baseball. Walker served as the head football coach at Atlantic Christian College—now Barton College—in 1926,at Elon University from 1927 to 1936,and at Wake Forest University from 1937 to 1950,compiling a career college football record of 127–93–10. At Elon,Walker was also the head basketball coach (1927–1937) and the head baseball coach (1928–1937). In 1952 Walker moved to the Canadian Football League (CFL) to become the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes. He remained with the team until 1959,tallying a mark of 59–48–1 in eight seasons. Walker also played minor league baseball with a number of clubs between 1921 and 1932. He managed the Snow Hill Billies of the Coastal Plain League from 1937 to 1939.
