Willy Mayambala is an Ugandan engineer and politician. He ran for the office of the president of Uganda in the 2021 president poll as an independent candidate. He was one of the four less visible presidential candidates and blamed his poor performance at the poll on the ten-man security guard whom he claimed prevented him from going out to canvass for votes. [1]
Mayambala was one of the ten candidates who challenged long serving president Yoweri Musaveni in the January 14, 2021 presidential polls. Mayambala was less vibrant in the presidential campaigns and came last with only 0.15 per cent or 15,657 votes he received. He blamed his paltry vote on the low turnout of voters (57.22%), and the Electoral Commission for not sensitising the electorates to vote during the election. [2]
On February 25, he personally wrote the Supreme Court requesting to take over a petition filed by a presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu of the National Unity Platform challenging the election of Musaveni as information emerged that Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu had abandoned the case in court. [3] The court replied Mayambala with an advice to hire a lawyer first before applying for a takeover of the case. [4] [5]
When he appeared before a parliamentary committee investigating cases of violence during the election, Mayambala complained that he was harassed by his own official ten-man security details throughout the campaign period. He told the committee that his security guards blocked him from going to campaign venues because he did not have a personal vehicle and had to scale perimeter fences to evade his security details who would chase him upon discovery that he had escaped leading to chaos in the streets. [6] During an on air program, the Morning Breeze show, Mayambala was asked about his financial status after his presidential campaign he responded that the election left him poorer, jobless and down to earth. The politics of Uganda occurs in an authoritarian context. Since assuming office in 1986 at the end of the Ugandan civil war, Yoweri Museveni has ruled Uganda as an autocrat. Political parties were banned from 1986 to 2006 in the wake of the 2005 Ugandan multi-party referendum which was won by pro-democracy forces. Since 2006, Museveni has used legal means, patronage, and violence to maintain power.
The Uganda Electoral Commission (EC) provides national elections for a president and a legislature. The president is elected for a five-year term. The Parliament is composed of members directly elected to represent constituencies, and one woman representative for every district; as well representatives of special interest groups, including the army, youth, workers and persons with disabilities.
Presidential elections were held in Egypt on September 7, 2005, the first to feature more than one candidate. Incumbent president Hosni Mubarak was re-elected for a fifth consecutive six-year term in office, with official results showing he won 88.6% of the vote. Mubarak's main opponent, Ayman Nour, of the El-Ghad Party, is estimated to have received 7.3% of the vote and Numan Gumaa received 2.8%, however, Nour claimed that prior polling results showed over 30%. Criticism of the election process has centred on the process of selecting the eligible candidates, and on alleged election-law violations during voting. Mubarak was sworn in for his new term on September 27.
Presidential elections were held in Guinea-Bissau on 28 June 2009 following the assassination of President João Bernardo Vieira on 2 March 2009. As no candidate won a majority in the first round, a second round was held on 26 July 2009 between the two leading candidates, Malam Bacai Sanhá of the governing African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC) and opposition leader Kumba Ialá. Sanhá won with a substantial majority in the second round, according to official results.
Esther Mayambala Kisaakye is a Ugandan judge. She is a Justice of the Supreme Court of Uganda. She was appointed to that position in July 2009.
Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, known by his stage name Bobi Wine, is a Ugandan politician, singer, and actor. He is a former Member of Parliament for Kyadondo County East constituency in Wakiso District, in Uganda's Central Region. He also leads the National Unity Platform political party. In June 2019, he announced his candidacy for the 2021 Ugandan presidential election. He participated in the 2021 election where he lost to the incumbent Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Presidential elections were held in Afghanistan on 28 September 2019. According to preliminary results, which runner-up Abdullah Abdullah appealed against, incumbent Ashraf Ghani was re-elected with 923,592 votes, 50.64% of the vote. After delays over disputed votes, Ghani was declared the winner in the final results on 18 February 2020. Abdullah Abdullah rejected the results and moved to set up his own parallel government and separate inauguration. However, Ghani was officially sworn in for a second term on 9 March 2020. The ensuing political crisis was not resolved until 16 May 2020, when Ghani and Abdullah signed a power-sharing deal in which Ghani would remain president and Abdullah would lead the peace talks with the Taliban when they start. Voter turnout was less than 20%.
The People Power, Our Power movement is a resistance pressure group in Uganda. It is led by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, who is the MP for Kyadondo East constituency. The movement seeks to unite Ugandans on issues such as ending human rights abuse, corruption and redefining the rule of law, with a focus on young Ugandans. The movement was primarily sparked by civil unrest with Yoweri Museveni's extended presidency, after he announced plans to extend his third-longest tenure in Africa by seeking re-election in 2021.
The 2020 United States presidential election in Florida was held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, as part of the 2020 United States presidential election, in which all 50 states and the District of Columbia participated. Florida voters chose electors to represent them in the Electoral College via a popular vote, pitting the Republican Party's nominee, incumbent president Donald Trump, and his running mate, Vice President Mike Pence, against Democratic Party nominee, former vice president Joe Biden, and his running mate, United States senator Kamala Harris, of California. Florida had 29 electoral votes in the Electoral College.

Francis Zaake is a businessman and Member of the 11th Parliament of Uganda representing Mityana Municipality. He was first elected to Parliament in the 2016 general elections as an Independent Member. In late 2020, he crossed to the National Unity Platform (NUP), Uganda's leading opposition Party. He ran for MP in Mityana Municipality in January 2021 on the NUP ticket and won a second term. Then, until his removal by the parliament in March 2022, he served as a Commissioner of Parliament, representing the entire Opposition on the highest decision-making body of the Ugandan Parliament

Joyce Bagala is a Ugandan journalist and politician. Formerly served as the news manager at Next Media, NBS television. In the 2021 general election, running on the National Unity Platform ticket, she was elected Women's Representative for Mityana District 2021-2026.
The National Unity Platform, formerly the National Unity, Reconciliation and Development Party (NURP), is a political party in Uganda led by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu. The NURP was led by Moses Nkonge Kibalama from December 2004 until July 2020. On 14 July 2020, Kyagulanyi assumed leadership of the party and was declared the party flag-bearer for the January 2021 Ugandan presidential elections.
General elections were held in Uganda on 14 January 2021 to elect the President and the Parliament. The Electoral Commission announced Incumbent President Yoweri Museveni, the incumbent ruling since 1986, as the winner with 58.64% of the votes although the U.S. State Department qualified the electoral process as "fundamentally flawed" and Africa Elections Watch said they observed irregularities. The official voter turnout was 57% but is questioned since 409 polling stations have been announced to have 100% voter turnout.

Florence Namayanja is a female Ugandan politician who was district woman representative of Bukoto County East, Masaka District. She was affiliated to the Democratic Party political party and now affiliated to National Unity Platform. In the 11th Parliament, she stood as the Candidate for LC5 Chairperson for Masaka City under the National Unity Platform although she lost the elections. She was the winner of Masaka city mayoral seat after defeating seven candidates including business tycoon, Emmanuel Lwasa with 28,824 votes.
Barbara Kyagulanyi is a Ugandan philanthropist and author. She is the wife to Ugandan pop artist and politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine. She is the author of "Golden Memories of a Village Belle" published in 2012.
