The Winmau BDO 9-Dart Club was an initiative launched and partnered by the British Darts Organisation and long-term sponsor Winmau in January 2013, [1] [2] which celebrated the 40th anniversary of the British Darts Organisation, [1] [2] with membership restricted to darts players that achieve a nine-dart finish at BDO / WDF major and open events. [1] [2]
Players that achieve this feat are presented with a unique set of laser-etched tungsten darts in a laser-etched aluminium presentation case as a permanent keepsake from Winmau. [1] [2] There is no specified limit as to how many times a player or team can be inducted if they achieve a nine-dart finish at BDO / WDF major and open events.

The first player to be inaugurated into the Winmau BDO 9-Dart Club was John Walton that January. [5] [6] He became the first and so far only player to achieve a nine-dart finish at the Winmau World Masters in 2007. [5] [6] Glen Durrant and Claire Stainsby became the first mixed pairs team inaugurated into the Winmau BDO 9-Dart Club after making history by achieving the first ever nine-dart finish in mixed pairs competition at the BDO International Open in 2013. [4]
Glen Durrant became the first member to be inaugurated twice in the same season after achieving a nine-dart finish at the EDO England Open in 2013 also. [4] Only after Gary Stone achieved a nine-dart finish at the Scottish Masters in 2013 was the event added to the list of qualifying tournaments, with Gary Stone also being inaugurated into the Winmau BDO 9-Dart Club. Andrew Fordham was an English professional darts player, commonly known as The Viking. He won the 2004 BDO World Darts Championship and the 1999 Winmau World Masters.
A nine-dart finish, also known as a nine-darter, is a perfect leg or single game in the sport of darts. The object of the game is to score a set number of points, most commonly 501; in order to win, a player must reach the target total exactly and hit a double scoring area with their last dart.
Martin Adams is an English professional darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Nicknamed "Wolfie", he is a three-time BDO World Champion and three-time World Masters champion. He represents Cambridgeshire at county darts level and was the captain of England from 1993 to 2013, the longest any player has held that role. From his debut in 1994, Adams made a record 25 consecutive World Championship appearances, before failing to qualify for the first time in 2019. Adams was diagnosed with prostate cancer in April 2016, but by the end of the year he was given the all-clear. As well as playing, he also acted as a regular pundit and commentator for televised coverage of BDO events.
The World Masters is a darts tournament, initially organised by the British Darts Organisation from 1974 and later by the World Darts Federation. It is one of the longest-running and most prestigious of the BDO/WDF tournaments. The tournament was originally sponsored by Phonogram before changing its sponsor in 1975 to darts board manufacturer, Winmau. The World Masters was originally contested as the best of 5 legs before later transitioning to the set format.
The Topic International Darts League was a darts tournament held at the Triavium in Nijmegen, Netherlands. Raymond van Barneveld dominated the tournament, held in his home country, winning it on three of the five occasions it was held. Gary Anderson was the final champion, having claimed the title in 2007, when the tournament also became the first major event to witness two nine dart finishes.
