The area has the largest hot springs in the state, and the resort is also known for its championship golf courses, which have hosted several national tournaments. The resort also includes an alpine ski resort; founded in 1959, it is the oldest in Virginia. The resort has been designated a National Historic Landmark; it has a history extending more than two and a half centuries. The Omni Homestead Resort is a member of Historic Hotel of America the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
The Ribault Club is an historic building on Fort George Island near Jacksonville, Florida. It is now home to the Fort George Island Visitor Center. The building was designed in a Colonial Revival architecture style and is credited to Maurice Fatio and Mellen Clark Greeley. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on May 11, 2000 and is located on Fort George Road. It was built in 1928 for winter recreation and is considered a legacy of Fort George Island's resort era. Winter recreational opportunities included golf, tennis, hunting, fishing, and yachting. The building is listed as a Historic Landmark by the City of Jacksonville. It became part of the Fort George Island Cultural State Park in 1989.

It is located in Foxburg, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, United States of America, approximately 55 miles (89 km) north of Pittsburgh on a hill rising about 300 feet above the Allegheny River. The course was listed in 2007 as Foxburg Country Club and Golf Course on the National Register of Historic Places. The clubhouse contains the American Golf Hall of Fame.

City Park Golf Course is a public golf course in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was the first public golf course and the city's only public course until the mid-1950s. The short, 34-par, nine-hole course was completed in 1926 and officially opened in 1928.
Wing Park Golf Course in Elgin, Illinois is the "oldest and best preserved nine-hole municipal golf course in Illinois." The course was constructed during a golf course boom in the Chicago area during first few years of the 1900s. The course was named after William H. Wing, who donated the land for a park in 1902. When the Elgin and Belvidere Electric Company was built only a few blocks away, Elgin developed the southern portion of the property to a golf course. The course was developed by Tom Bendelow, a prolific designer who laid out over six hundred golf courses. Wing Park Golf Course opened on September 5, 1908 and has been in continuous operation since. The Wing Park Golf Club was organized in 1912 to help manage the property. The course was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
The Paintsville Country Club is a historic country club located immediately east of Paintsville, Kentucky, United States. The land on which the building is located was donated by Paul B. Hall, who was Paintsville Medical Center's Chief of Staff in 1934-1981. Although the city of Paintsville owns the country club, the golf course is privately owned. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on 29 January 1989.
Ocean Forest Country Club, also known as Ocean Forest Hotel and Country Club, is a historic country club and hotel located at Myrtle Beach in Horry County, South Carolina. The club and hotel were designed by an influential New York architect, Raymond Hood (1881-1934) and is an unusual example of Classical Revival architecture. Construction of the club began in 1926 and was completed in 1927. In addition to the hotel / club building, a 27-hole golf course was built in association with the club. It was designed by Robert White, a golf course designer and future president of the Professional Golfers' Association of America. The present 18-hole course dates to 1946.
The Greens at North Hills Municipal Golf Course is a municipal golf course located in Sherwood, Arkansas, United States. Construction of the 120 acres (49 ha) golf course began in 1927 during the "golden era" of golf course design.
Front Royal Recreational Park Historic District, also known as the Front Royal Country Club, is a national historic district located near Front Royal, Warren County, Virginia. The district encompasses 3 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, 3 contributing structures, and 1 contributing object near the town of Front Royal. The park was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1938. The historic resources on the property include a garage, and greenskeeper's house, the golf course, the tennis courts, swimming pool, and original shelter, as well as a stone drinking fountain and a stone memorial marker. The property is operated as a public golf course by Warren County. The original clubhouse was lost in the flood of 1996 and rebuilt in 1998.
Tryon Country Club is a historic country club located near Tryon, Polk County, North Carolina. The nine-hole golf course was originally laid out in 1914; the course opened in 1917. The donor family attests that the layout was designed by noted golfer Donald Ross. The clubhouse was built in 1922, and is a one-story, five bay, Rustic Revival style log building with two projecting front-gable porches. The pro shop and storage building was built about 1935, and is a one-story side-gable frame structure, with additions made about 1940, 1958, and 1972. Also on the golf course is a contributing one-story frame building known as the Summer House and added in 1958.
Meadowbrook Country Club is a historic country club and national historic district located near Garner, Wake County, North Carolina. The club was founded in 1959, with initial improvements made throughout the 1960s. The contributing resources are the lake (1961); pier (1961); picnic area (1962); driving range (1966); nine-hole golf course designed by Gene Hamm (1966); one-story, concrete block, Modern Movement style clubhouse ; and 18-hole putt-putt course (1962). Meadowbrook Country Club was founded as a private country club for African-Americans.

Hillcrest Country Club, also known as Avalon Country Club, is a historic country club located in suburban Lawrence Township, Marion County, Indiana, northeast of Indianapolis, Indiana. The 18 hole golf course was designed by Bill Diddel and was built in 1924. The clubhouse was built in 1929-1930, and renovated in 2000. It is a three-story, Mission Revival style with tall arched openings, and a low tile roof with bracketed eaves. Also on the property are the contributing swimming pool (1934), well house, and water pump.
Woodstock Country Club is a historic country club and national historic district located at Indianapolis, Indiana. It was developed between 1923 and 1956 and includes the 1923 Colonial Revival clubhouse expanded in 1957 and 1988. It consists of a central block with flanking wings and a three-arch porte cochere. Also on the property are the contributing main swimming pool and upper and lower tennis courts. The golf course was originally designed in 1899 and reconstructed in 1927-1928 by Bill Diddel.

The Norfolk Downs Shelter is a historic former golf club pavilion on Golf Drive in Norfolk, Connecticut. It was built in 1907 for a now-abandoned nine-hole golf course known as Norfolk Downs, to design by New York City architect Alfredo S.G. Taylor. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 for its association with the architect.
