Wirt County Schools is the operating school district within Wirt County, West Virginia. It is governed by the Wirt County Board of Education.

Wirt County is a county in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,717, making it the least populous county in West Virginia. Its county seat is Elizabeth. The county was created in 1848 by the Virginia General Assembly and named for U.S. Attorney General and presidential candidate William Wirt. The county is serviced by one high school, Wirt County High School.
William Wirt was an American author and statesman who is credited with turning the position of United States Attorney General into one of influence. He was the longest serving Attorney General in U.S. history. He was also the Anti-Masonic nominee for president in the 1832 election.

William A Wirt Senior High School was a four-year (9-12) public high school of the Gary Community School Corporation in Gary, Indiana. In May 2009 the school announced that after over 70 years, it would finally be closing. As of 2011, the site is used for the Wirt Emerson VPA Academy, a magnet school for the visual and performing arts.

School of the Woods is an independent primary and secondary school located at Hilshire Village, Texas, United States in Greater Houston, with a portion of the school property in Spring Branch, Houston. Wirtland is a historic house in Westmoreland County, Virginia, United States, near the community of Oak Grove. Built in 1850 by William Wirt, Jr., the son of former U.S. Attorney General William Wirt, it has been recognized as a high-quality example of a rural Gothic Revival house of the period. Its historic status was recognized in 1979, when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Wirt is an unincorporated community in Carter County, Oklahoma, about 3 miles west of Healdton. First called Ragtown because of the tents the oil workers lived in when the petroleum boom started, the town was formally named after Wirt Franklin, who was in the oil business and drilled the first local well. The community post office began operations on December 12, 1914. At its peak, the town had a school, movie theater, bank, drug store, two gas stations, two churches, and two groceries. But the town burned several times, and the population dropped off when the oil boom ended.
