Wisr (ASX: WZR) is an Australian non-bank lender [1] offering consumer lending services. It was known for being the first company of its type to be publicly listed in Australia. In March 2018, DirectMoney launched a major company rebrand to Wisr. [2]
In March 2018 DirectMoney Finance Pty Ltd rebranded to Wisr Finance Pty Ltd and began an entirely new business model. In 2017 the company had ceased peer-to-peer lending, originating a wholesale off-balance sheet loan funding facility with 255 Finance.
In August 2018, Wisr launched Australia's first credit score comparison site, WisrCredit. [3] [4]
In March 2019, the company launched the Wisr App, Australia's first app that lets the user round-up digital spare change to pay down debt such as credit cards. [5]
In March 2019, Wisr undertook a $15 million capital raise through Placement shares. [6] [7]
In November 2019, the NAB-backed Wisr Warehouse loan funding facility went live with an initial $50 million commitment. [8] The Wisr Warehouse was increased from $95 million to $150 million in July 2020, $250 million in October 2020 and then $350 million in March 2021.

In March 2021, Wisr took a 5% ownership in EU-based fintech Arbor. [9]
In May 2021, Wisr undertook an inaugural A$225M ABS transaction (asset-backed securities), supported by a pool of fully amortising unsecured consumer personal loans. The top tranche of the ABS transaction received a AAA Moody's rating. [10] [11]
In June 2021, supported by Goldman Sachs, Wisr undertook a $55 million capital raise through Placement shares and a share purchase plan (SPP). It was oversubscribed.
In August 2023, Wisr announced that it had terminated the employment of CEO Anthony Nantes. He was replaced by Andrew Goodwin. At the same time his brother, John Nantes temporarily recused himself from his position as chairman of the board to avoid perception of conflict of interest. [12]
On 13 July 2015, Wisr listed on the Australian Securities Exchange through a reverse takeover of Basper Ltd, raising $AU11.2m at 20c per share. [13]

Redbank Power Station is a biomass power station located in Warkworth, within the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. The station is currently awaiting a restart of operations after converting from its original use as a coal-fired power station. Redbank is unique for its utilisation of circulating fluidised bed technology, the only generator of its kind in Australia. Upon re-fire, the station will operate using 100% biomass at a capacity of 151MW of electricity.
Peer-to-peer lending, also abbreviated as P2P lending, is the practice of lending money to individuals or businesses through online services that match lenders with borrowers. Peer-to-peer lending companies often offer their services online, and attempt to operate with lower overhead and provide their services more cheaply than traditional financial institutions. As a result, lenders can earn higher returns compared to savings and investment products offered by banks, while borrowers can borrow money at lower interest rates, even after the P2P lending company has taken a fee for providing the match-making platform and credit checking the borrower. There is the risk of the borrower defaulting on the loans taken out from peer-lending websites.
LendingClub is a financial services company headquartered in San Francisco, California. It was the first peer-to-peer lender to register its offerings as securities with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and to offer loan trading on a secondary market. At its height, LendingClub was the world's largest peer-to-peer lending platform. The company reported that $15.98 billion in loans had been originated through its platform up to December 31, 2015.
Zopa Ltd. is a British financial services company which offers deposit accounts, personal loans and credit cards. It began as the world's first peer-to-peer lending company in 2005 and gained a full banking licence in 2020. The peer-to-peer side of its business closed in December 2021.

Funding Circle is a commercial lender. Originally it was a peer-to-peer lending marketplace that allowed the public to lend money directly to small and medium-sized businesses. Through this exchange businesses access lower costs of financing than they would get at a bank and the public are able to become lenders and in doing so make a return on their capital. It closed its lending option to "retail investors" between 2020 and 2022, and then announced, in March 2022, that it had made the closure permanent.
RateSetter is a British personal loan provider, founded in 2009 as one of the pioneers of peer-to-peer lending. The London-based company traded in the United Kingdom and through a locally-owned and run business in Australia. The UK business was acquired by Metro Bank in September 2020, leading to closure of the peer-to-peer products in April 2021.

Harmoney is an online direct personal lender that operates across Australia and New Zealand. The company was established in 2014 to introduce peer-to-peer lending to New Zealand. Harmoney provides risk-priced, unsecured personal loans up to $70,000 and has issued NZD $2 billion worth of loans as of March 2021.
The House Crowd was a UK peer to peer lending and crowdfunding platform that allowed people to invest in bridging loans and property development loans from £1,000. In 2018, the business achieved authorisation from the Financial Conduct Authority and launched their Innovative Finance ISA. The company provides an alternative payment platform offering interest-free installment plans at selected online stores.
