The Filmfare Best Villain Award was given by Filmfare as part of its annual Filmfare Awards for Hindi films, to recognise an actor who had delivered an outstanding performance in a negative role. Although the awards started in 1954, this category was first introduced in 1992 and has been marked as obsolete since 2007.

Body) is a 2003 Indian Hindi-language erotic thriller film directed and edited by Amit Saxena, written by Mahesh Bhatt, produced by Pooja Bhatt and Sujit Kumar Singh under the banner Fish Eye Network [P] Ltd and Shreya Creations, which starred Bipasha Basu in the lead alongside John Abraham making his debut in Bollywood films. Salaam-e-Ishq also known as Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute To Love, is a 2007 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by Nikkhil Advani, marking his second directorial venture after Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003). An unofficial remake of Love Actually (2003), the film features an ensemble cast of Anil Kapoor, Govinda, Salman Khan, Juhi Chawla, Akshaye Khanna, John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, Ayesha Takia, Shannon Esra, Sohail Khan and Isha Koppikar. It weaves six love stories together and follows the relationships of the people within it.
Seema Biswas is an Indian actress who works in Hindi films and the theatre. She gained prominence after playing the role of Phoolan Devi in Shekhar Kapur's film Bandit Queen (1994), for which she won the National Film Award for Best Actress. She won the 2000 Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the 2006 Best Actress Genie Award for her role as Shakuntala in Deepa Mehta's Water (2005). Her other mainstream films include Khamoshi: The Musical (1996), for which she won the Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress, Bhoot (2003), Vivah (2006) and Half Girlfriend (2017). In addition to films, Biswas has appeared in many television shows.
Akayla (transl. Alone) is a 1991 Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Ramesh Sippy and produced by the Mushir - Riaz duo. It featured an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Amrita Singh, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Aditya Pancholi, Kiran Juneja, Keith Stevenson as the primary antagonist in a dual role, and Shashi Kapoor in an extended special appearance. It was the fourth and final collaboration between Bachchan and Ramesh Sippy after Sholay (1975), Shaan (1980) and Shakti (1982). It also marked the former's last onscreen collaboration with Sheshadri and Kapoor and his first one with Shroff, they would later work together in films like Eklavya (2007) and Sarkar 3 (2017). Also, it was the second time Singh and Sheshadri featured together, the first film being Toofan (1989) which also starred Bachchan in the lead role. It was loosely based on Dirty Harry (1971).

The film features cinematography by Thiru, production design by Sabu Cyril and editing by Arun Kumar. Tyag Rajan and R.P Yadav arranged and choreographed the action sequences of the film. The film was based on news reports of honour killings in India, and has also been described as a remake of the 1988 American film, Mississippi Burning.
