Wits Enterprise is wholly owned by University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg to commercialise the intellectual property of the University. They are also responsible for short courses, technology transfer and research support. [1]

The University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, is a multi-campus South African public research university situated in the northern areas of central Johannesburg. It is more commonly known as Wits University or Wits. The university has its roots in the mining industry, as do Johannesburg and the Witwatersrand in general. Founded in 1896 as the South African School of Mines in Kimberley, it is the third oldest South African university in continuous operation.

Intellectual property (IP) is a category of property that includes intangible creations of the human intellect. Intellectual property encompasses two types of rights: industrial property rights and copyright. It was not until the 19th century that the term "intellectual property" began to be used, and not until the late 20th century that it became commonplace in the majority of the world.

Thornhill v. Alabama, 310 U.S. 88 (1940), is a US labor law case of a United States Supreme Court. It reversed the conviction of the president of a local union for violating an Alabama statute that prohibited only labor picketing. Thornhill was peaceably picketing his employer during an authorized strike when he was arrested and charged. In reaching its decision, Associate Justice Frank Murphy wrote for the Supreme Court that the free speech clause protects speech about the facts and circumstances of a labor dispute. The statute in the case prohibited all labor picketing, but Thornhill added peaceful labor picketing to the area protected by free speech.

The University Wits is a phrase used to name a group of late 16th-century English playwrights and pamphleteers who were educated at the universities and who became popular secular writers. It was a broad-based movement as it included various literary genres such as drama, essays, fiction, history, humor, journalism, memoirs, and poetry. The Nedbank Cup is a South African club football (soccer) tournament. The knockout tournament, based on the English FA Cup format, was one of a weak opponent facing a stronger one. The competition was sponsored by ABSA until 2007, after which Nedbank took over sponsorship.

LTS Garðbær Studios is a studio located in Garðabær, Iceland, which succeeded Lazy Shows. The studio's productions included television series LazyTown. The studio was founded in 2003 by Magnús Scheving and his partners Guðmundur Þór Kárason and Raymond P. Le Gué. In 2011, Turner Broadcasting System acquired LTS and in 2014 Turner moved the studio to the UK. LTS owns Wit Puppets and the creative studio from Le Gué Enterprises BV. As of 2019 the rights to the LazyTown brand are owned by Warner Bros. through its Global Kids and Young Adults unit.
