The Wofford Terriers men's soccer team represents Wofford College in all NCAA Division I men's college soccer competitions. The Terriers play in the Southern Conference. However, there have been talks of them moving up to the Big 10 or ACC due to their recent success and Massive outlook with recent signings such as, Gavin Raff, Sam Diebold, Ona Sinani, and Nikolai Rojel.

The Wofford Terriers are the athletic teams that represent the Wofford College, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in intercollegiate sports at the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), primarily competing in the Southern Conference since the 1997–98 academic year. Wofford and the other SoCon members play football in the Football Championship Subdivision. Prior to the 1995–96 year, the Terriers played in Division II in all sports, and until the 1988–89 period, Wofford's athletic teams were members of the NAIA. The football team plays in Gibbs Stadium. The basketball teams moved to the new Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium for the 2017–18 season.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are the athletic teams that represent Coastal Carolina University. They participate in Division I of the NCAA as a member of the Sun Belt Conference (SBC) in most sports, having joined that conference as a full but non-football member on July 1, 2016. At that time, the football team began a transition from the second-level Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) to the top-level Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The team played the 2016 season as an FCS independent, joined SBC football for the 2017 season, and became full FBS members for 2018 and beyond. A Chanticleer is a proud and fierce rooster. Before joining the SBC, the Chanticleers had been members of the Big South Conference since that league's formation in 1983. Coastal fields varsity teams in 19 sports, 8 for men and 11 for women. The university regularly competed for the Sasser Cup, the Big South's trophy for the university with the best sports program among the member institutions, winning the trophy nine times, tied with rival Liberty University.

The Wofford Terriers men's basketball team represents Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States, in Division I of the NCAA. The school's team competes in the Southern Conference. Wofford is coached by Dwight Perry, who was promoted after previous head coach Jay McAuley left the team during the 2022–23 season. Wofford plays its home games at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium, opened for the 2017–18 season as the replacement for Benjamin Johnson Arena.

The 2011 Southern Conference men's basketball tournament took place between Friday, March 4 and Monday, March 7 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at McKenzie Arena. The semifinals were televised by SportSouth, with the Southern Conference Championship Game televised by ESPN2. The championship matched the two teams with the best conference records, College of Charleston and Wofford. Although College of Charleston had won both regular season meetings against Wofford, the Terriers defeated the Cougars in the championship game, 77–67, to secure their bid to the 2011 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, Wofford's second straight appearance.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Sports in South Carolina</span>

Although there are no major league professional franchises based in South Carolina, the state does have numerous minor league teams. The Carolina Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes major league professional teams are based in neighboring North Carolina. However, the Carolina Panthers, a professional American football team of the NFL, are based near the South Carolina border, have training facilities in Spartanburg, and have shown their desire to represent both of the Carolinas, with the motto "two states, one team". Similarly, Charlotte FC, a professional men's soccer club of MLS, is also based near the border and has a primary jersey which represents both states. College teams throughout the state represent their particular South Carolina institution, along with the state being a prime destination for golf and water sports.

Fletcher Magee is an American basketball player for Budućnost Podgorica of the ABA League. He played college basketball for Wofford College. While playing for the Terriers, he was named the Southern Conference Player of the Year by the league's media in consecutive years and set the NCAA record for made three point shots in a career. His career NCAA three-point percentage of .435 and free throw percentage of .908 are among the highest ever.

Jay McAuley is a former American basketball player and coach. He was the head coach of the Wofford Terriers men's basketball team. Presently, McAuley is the head coach of the Lassiter High School basketball team.

The 2019–20 Wofford Terriers men's basketball team represented Wofford College in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Terriers, led by first-year head coach Jay McAuley, played their home games at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium in Spartanburg, South Carolina as members of the Southern Conference. They finished the season 19–16, 8–10 i SoCon play to finish in seventh place. They defeated The Citadel, Furman, and Chattanooga to advance to the championship game of the SoCon tournament where they lost to East Tennessee State.
