Woolf Brothers Clothing Company is a historic building in Wichita, Kansas. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is at 135 East Douglas Avenue. It was built in 1922 and replaced Greenfield's Clothing and Furnishings for Men. The building was designed by Lorenz Schmidt and opened in January 1923. [1] [2]

The store was part of the Woolf Brothers retail clothing store chain which included several storea in other cities. The firstof its stores opened in Kansas City in 1879 and the chain was sold in 1985. [3]

Other banners under Dillon Stores Division include Gerbes in Missouri, Baker's in Omaha, Nebraska, and a Food 4 Less store in Fremont, Nebraska. Dillons operates grocery stores throughout Kansas with major influences in and around Wichita, Topeka and Lawrence.

Spangles (restaurant)

Spangles is a family-owned fast food chain based in Wichita, Kansas. It serves 1/3-pound burgers, flatbread pita wraps, french fries, onion rings, breakfast sandwiches, cinnamon and sugar donuts, lactose-free milkshakes, and an array of other soft-serve desserts. The chain is known for its bizarre, kitschy television commercials. Today, Spangles Inc. has 27 locations in Kansas, with 14 in the Wichita area, 4 in Topeka, 2 in Hutchinson, 2 in Salina, and 1 each in Andover, Derby, El Dorado, Emporia and Park City.

Boller Brothers

Boller Brothers, often written Boller Bros., was an architectural firm based in Kansas City, Missouri which specialized in theater design in the Midwestern United States during the first half of the 20th century. Carl Heinrich Boller (1868–1946) and Robert Otto Boller (1887–1962) are credited with the design of almost 100 classic theaters ranging from small vaudeville venues to grand movie palaces.

Gee Bee Department Stores was a chain of discount department stores, mostly throughout western Pennsylvania. It was established as Glosser Brothers in 1906. The chain went out of business in 1993.

Lit Brothers was a moderately-priced department store based in Philadelphia. Samuel and Jacob Lit opened the first store at North 8th and Market Streets in 1891. There are approximately 30 examples of his work still extant in Kansas City, Missouri where Curtiss spent his career, including his best known design, the Boley Clothing Company Building. Oldest McDonalds restaurant United States historic place

The oldest McDonald's restaurant is a drive-up hamburger stand at 10207 Lakewood Boulevard at Florence Avenue in Downey, California. It was the third McDonald's restaurant and opened on August 18, 1953. It was also the second restaurant franchised by Richard and Maurice McDonald, prior to the involvement of Ray Kroc in the company. The restaurant is now the oldest in the chain still in existence and is one of Downey's main tourist attractions. The Urbana-Lincoln Hotel – Lincoln Square Mall is a historic building complex located at 300 South Broadway Avenue in Urbana, Illinois. The Tudor Revival style hotel was built in 1923. In 1964, the mall was built as an extension of the hotel; it was one of the first fully enclosed shopping malls in Illinois. The hotel, the mall, and the building complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. As of October 2017, the mall was still in operation, however the hotel was closed.

Bitting Building United States historic place

The Bitting Building is a historic structure in Wichita, Kansas. It was built in 1912 as a four-story building replacing an earlier building on the site. Seven additional stories were added in 1919. Major renovations were carried out in 1959 and the 1980s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012. It is at 107 N. Market Street.

Lorenz Schmidt or Lorentz Schmidt was a prominent architect in Kansas. He designed the Fresh Air Baby Camp and Woolf Brothers Clothing Company buildings, both listed on the National Register of Historic Places. He was made a fellow of the American Institute of Architects. His firm was Lorentz Schmidt & Co.
