2025 World Strength Games

The World Strength Games (WSG) is an annual international strongman competition and fitness expo. In 2025, it was held during Memorial Day weekend at the Dixie Convention Center in St. George, Utah. Established in 2017, the event combines world record attempts in strength disciplines with regional qualifying competitions across North America, including events such as the Utah Strength Games and Salt Lake Strongest Man. Contents

History

Founded in 2017 with 11 athletes, the competition initially focused on strongman events like lifting stone, including the 402-pound basalt stone named the "Magnus Stone" after Magnús Ver Magnússon, often compared to Iceland’s Húsafell Stone. [2] In Orlando, Florida, in 2023, Dimitar Savatinov set an American deadlift record of 1,031 pounds. [3] As of 2025, the WSG has documented 121 various event world records and expanded to include USA Wrestling tournaments, Ninja Warrior courses, and CrossFit challenges. [4]

Format

Depending on event type, athletes may have one or two attempts in weight-class-based competition with each other. Events mainly have featured strongman implements such as stone carry, super yokes, farmer's carry, and vehicle pull.

Regional Qualifying System

The WSG uses a global qualifying network, including:

Utah Strength Games (Salt Lake City)

Kentucky World Strength Games Qualifier (Stearns, KY)

Fitcon Utah's Strongest Man (Salt Palace Convention Center)

The top three finishers in each weight class at qualifiers earn invitations to the main event. [5]

2025 Competition

The 2025 WSG occurred from 22–24 May at the Dixie Convention Center, adopting a three-day format:

22 May: Free weigh-ins and athlete meet-and-greet

23–24 May: Core competition days featuring: MAX Log Clean and Press, MAX Farmer's Carry 50' <60s, Stone Carry for Distance <60s, MAX Super Yoke Carry 50' <60s, MAX Deadlift

Notable judges participated in the event including World's Strongest Man winner Magnús Ver Magnússon and professional strongman Travis Ortmayer. [6]

Results were tracked and placed on strengthresults.com for all weight classes. [7]
