The Wrexham Guardian was a weekly newspaper from Wrexham, a town in northern Wales. The first issue was published on 4 September 1869, and in February 1879, its name was changed to the North Wales Guardian. [1] It continued under that title until ceasing publication in 1954. [2]

Wrexham Glyndŵr University University in North East Wales

Wrexham Glyndŵr University is a British university with campuses at Wrexham, Northop and St Asaph in north-east Wales. It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, as well as professional courses. The University had 5,895 students in 2018/19.

Media of Wales

The media in Wales provide services in both English and Welsh, and play a role in modern Welsh culture. BBC Wales began broadcasting in 1923 have helped to promote a form of standardised spoken Welsh, and one historian has argued that the concept of Wales as a single national entity owes much to modern broadcasting. 1877–78 Welsh Cup football tournament season

The 1877–78 Welsh Cup was the first season of the Welsh Cup. The cup was won by Wrexham who defeated Druids 1–0 in the final.

The Denbighshire League was a league in the early days of Welsh football. Originally titled the Welsh Senior League it ran from 1890 until 1902. It was mainly made up of teams from the Wrexham area, with sporadic entrants from Mid Wales and the North Wales Coast. It was one of the first organised Football Leagues in Wales. The league was resurrected in September 1903 under the name the Wrexham and District League.

Westminster Rovers F.C. was a Welsh football club based in Wrexham, Wales.

The 1894–95 Welsh Amateur Cup was the fifth season of the Welsh Amateur Cup. The cup was won by Caergwrle Wanderers who defeated Bangor Reserves 2-1 in the final, at Flint.

Wrexham Grosvenor Football Club was a Welsh football club based in Wrexham, who played in the Welsh Cup in the 1879–80 and 1880–81 seasons. The football club are first mentioned in 1876, however a cricket club of the same name existed at least a year earlier.

Gwersyllt Foresters were a Welsh football team from the village of Gwersyllt, Wrexham.

1878 Welsh Cup Final

The 1878 Welsh Cup Final, was the 1st in the competition. It was contested by Wrexham and Druids at the Acton Park, Wrexham.

The 1879 Welsh Cup Final, was the 2nd in the competition. It was contested by Newtown White Star and Wrexham at the Cricket Field, Oswestry.

Thomas Eyton-Jones

Thomas Eyton-Jones JP, FRCS, was a significant figure in Wrexham in the 19th century. Working as a surgeon, physician, magistrate, local politician and army officer, he is best known for his role as a medical professional. Baptised with the given name of Thomas Eyton and the surname of Jones, during the course of his life he adopted Eyton as part of his surname becoming Thomas Eyton Jones and Thomas Eyton-Jones by the end of his life.

The last turnpike road between Chester and Wrexham in the United Kingdom was built in 1752 and follows the same route as the A483 road leaving Chester and thereafter the B5445 towards Wrexham.
