Liang Jingfeng is a Taiwanese specialist on Taiwan nativist literature, especially native Taiwanese poetry since the 1920s. He was a notable activist in the Tangwai movement that took to the streets in the mid-1970s in opposition to the KMT dictatorship and for democracy and the rights of workers, peasants and fishers. In the 1970s, he was very active in the Tangwai movement or Democracy Movement. Liang was active in the folk music movement scene and is known in Taiwan for writing the lyrics of the song Meilidao. This song, composed by Liang's friend, the painter, writer, and composer Li Shuangzi, was the anthem of the Tangwai movement in the 1970s and later became almost the unofficial anthem of Taiwan.
Li Meng-yen is a Taiwanese politician who is the current minister of Transportation and Communications since May 2024. He has served as secretary-general of the Executive Yuan from January 2019 to May 2024. In an acting capacity, he was mayor of Tainan from September 2017 to December 2018 and Executive Yuan spokesperson from November 2020 to February 2021.

Presidential elections were held in Taiwan on 13 January 2024 as part of the 2024 general elections. Tsai Ing-wen of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), the incumbent president of the Republic of China, was ineligible for reelection due to term limits. As such, the DPP nominated Vice President Lai Ching-te, who had secured the party chairmanship by acclamation in March 2023. He selected Hsiao Bi-khim, the then-Representative to the United States, as his running mate. Lai was elected president with a plurality of 40.05% and was inaugurated on 20 May 2024.

He was honored as a poet laureate and his works have been compiled and published in eight volumes as The Complete Works of Wei Ch'ing-tê (魏清德全集) by the National Museum of Taiwan Literature.
Wu Te-kung, also known by his courtesy name Ju-neng (汝能) and pseudonym Li-hsuan (立軒), was a native of Changhua, Taiwan, and one of the founders of the Chang Hwa Bank. He made significant contributions to social welfare in the Changhua region, overseeing the establishment of institutions such as the Changhua Infant Care Center, Loyalty Shrine, and Integrity and Filial Piety Shrine. In later years, he actively participated in the restoration and relocation of the Integrity and Filial Piety Shrine of Changhua. Wu's literary works include The Cession of Taiwan (讓臺記), the first chronicle in Taiwan using a dual calendar system of the Western and traditional lunar calendars. He also authored Poetry Manuscript of Juei Tao Chamber (瑞桃齋詩稿), Juei Tao Chamber Prose Anthology (瑞桃齋文稿), and A Brief History of the Rebellion of Tai Chao-chun (戴案紀略), among others.
The inauguration of Lai Ching-te as the 14th President of the Republic of China took place on May 20, 2024, marking the start of the four-year term of Lai Ching-te as president and Hsiao Bi-khim as vice president, and the first time a political party started a third term since the implementation of direct elections in 1994. The inauguration took place in front of the Presidential Office Building in Taipei.
