Sadiq Onifade, known popularly known as WurlD, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, WurlD relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue a secondary education and record music. He describes his style of music as electro-fusion. [1] He released his debut EP Evolution in 2013. [2]

Early life

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, WurlD relocated to the US as a teenager and received his college education at Georgia State University, studying computer science. While in school, WurlD developed a serious interest in musical performance.

Career

In late 2012, WurlD released his first single, "Beyond Our Dreams" from his debut EP titled Evolution, due summer 2013. [1] Coinciding with the release, SESAC held an exclusive listening party at their Atlanta office for WurlD's forthcoming Evolution EP. [3] By early 2013, WurlD was in the recording studio with Mario, writing songs for the R&B superstar's upcoming album. Shortly after, the music video for Evolution's second single, "Alive", produced by Black Shield Entertainment producer Hood Beatz, was premiered exclusively via MTV: The Wrap Up on 2 May 2013. WurlD also teamed up with Timbaland's artist, BK Brasco as a featured artist on "Beautiful Girls." He also appears in the song's video. [4]

In May 2016 WurlD released "Show You Off" an Afro-soul record featuring Walshy Fire of Major Lazer and Afro-beat producer Shizzi. In June 2016 WurlD released the collaborative track "Better Days" with Sir Felix; it became the official anthem for DelfSail 2016. WurlD (Sadiq Onifade) co-wrote the hit song "Blow my Mind" by Davido featuring Chris Brown in 2019. [5] The song was produced by Davido's long-time collaborating producer Shizzi.

In his interview with African Folder published in 2023, Wurld revealed he had wriiten over a million songs in the course of his career as a singer-songwriter. [6]

Awards and recognition

In 2015 WurlD went certified Gold with his Sony Music release track "Follow You" with Polish DJ, Gromee [7] and in 2017, he received a nomination for Best Diaspora Act at the Nigerian Entertainment Award alongside Rotimi and Wale. [8] He has a Hit single now called 'Trobul'

A Good Time is the second studio album by Nigerian singer Davido. It was released on November 22, 2019, through Davido Music Worldwide, RCA Records and Sony Music. The album features guest appearances from Chris Brown, Summer Walker, Gunna, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Dremo, Peruzzi, Popcaan, Zlatan, Yonda, Wurld and Naira Marley. Davido enlisted Speroach Beatz, Tekno, Shizzi, Kiddominant, P2J, London on da Track, Fresh VDM, Seyi, Teekay Witty, Ray Keys and Vstix to produce the album. In December 2019, Davido announced a North American tour in support of the album; the tour was scheduled to begin in the winter and end in spring 2020. Son of Mercy is the debut EP by Nigerian singer Davido. It was released by Sony Music Entertainment on October 21, 2016. The EP comprises five tracks and was produced by Shizzi, Kiddominant and Spellz. It features guest appearances from Nasty C, Simi and Tinashe. Son of Mercy tackles themes of love and combines elements of Afropop, trap, ragga, highlife and house. It was supported by the singles "Gbagbe Oshi", "How Long" and "Coolest Kid in Africa".

Michael Babatunde Adeyinka, also known as DJ Tunez is a Nigerian and American disc jockey. In 2015, DJ Tunez was asked by Wizkid to join Starboy Entertainment, as the official label DJ, DJ Tunez first production was in 2016's Iskaba, a contagious hit song with Wande Coal. He has collaborated with other acts such as Wizkid, Sarz, Burna Boy, Busiswa, Reekado Banks, Damibliz, Omah Lay and many more.

<i>Love Is Contagious</i> (EP) 0000 EP by Wurld

Love Is Contagious is the second extended play by Nigerian Afro-soul recording artist Wurld. It was released on 28 March 2019 through Universal Music Group Nigeria. The album features guest appearances from Shizzi, and Walshy Fire. It was primarily produced by Shizzi, with additional production from Walshy Fire, Swerve, LeriQ, and Mike Best. The lead single includes the tracks "Show You Off", "Contagious", "Paranoid", and "Wishes and Butterflies".

Lekan Osifeso Jnr., popularly known as Lojay, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer. He peaked at number 8 on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart with his song "Monalisa", which features Chris Brown and Sarz. His song is also the most played afrobeats song on Shazam according to Cool FM Nigeria and NotJustOk. He was nominated for the Headies Award for Next Rated artiste for the year 2022.

Abdulsalam Suliyat Modasola well known as Liya, is a Nigerian singer, and songwriter. She came into the music scene with the release of her first single under Davido Music Worldwide, titled "Melo", shortly after signing a record deal with the label in 2020. The accompanying music video for "Melo", was released on 8 December 2020, starring Davido, and directed by Dammy Twitch for DMW. She was formerly signed to Davido Music Worldwide from 2020 to early 2023. She began releasing songs independently in 2023.
