The WyoPoets is a non-profit state-level poetry organization in the U.S. state of Wyoming, affiliated with the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. The society promotes the writing and appreciation of poetry, hosts conferences, releases poetry publications and maintains poetry awards and educational programs.
In 1977 Florence Rubert Rossi was instrumental in organizing the state's poets and affiliating with the NFSPS. At that time, the organization was known as Poets of Wyoming Writers (PWW). The group separated from Wyoming Writers in 1996 and formed a new poets' organization with a membership of about 70. [1] This organization incorporated in 2004 as WyoPoets, a 501(c)(3) organization, [2] and retained its affiliation with the National Federation of State Poetry Societies.
WyoPoets aims to provide mutual help and inspiration to foster an interest in poetry throughout the state of Wyoming. This includes activities like writing, workshops, publishing, studying, and sharing poetry in its many forms. The organization began celebrating April as National Poetry Month in 1996 when the event was organized.
Over the years, seven members of WyoPoets have served as Poet Laureates of the State of Wyoming. The organization sponsors contests and awards, [3] and publishes poetry chapbooks periodically. Contests include: the Eugene V. Shea National Poetry Contest, a Members-Only Chapbook Contest and a Members-Only Contest for poetry. [4]
Lewis Putnam Turco was an American poet, teacher, and writer of fiction and non-fiction. Turco was an advocate for Formalist poetry in the United States.

Angela Jackson is an American poet, playwright, and novelist based in Chicago, Illinois. Jackson has been a member of the Organization of Black American Culture (OBAC), a community that fosters the intellectual development of Black creators, since 1970. She has held teaching positions at Kennedy-King College, Columbia College Chicago, Framingham State University, and Howard University. Jackson has won numerous awards, including the American Book Award, and became the fifth Illinois Poet Laureate in 2020.
Maureen Therese Seaton was an American lesbian poet, memoirist, and professor of creative writing. She authored fifteen solo books of poetry, co-authored an additional thirteen, and wrote one memoir, Sex Talks to Girls, which won the 2009 Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Memoir/Biography. Seaton's writing has been described as "unusual, compressed, and surrealistic," and was frequently created in collaboration with fellow poets such as Denise Duhamel, Samuel Ace, Neil de la Flor, David Trinidad, Kristine Snodgrass, cin salach, Niki Nolin, and Mia Leonin.
John Dunville Nesbitt is an American educator and writer of Northern Irish and Hungarian descent, known for his fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and song lyrics about the American West. He is best known for his traditional western novels, and has also published in retro/noir fiction set in California, memoirs set in California, contemporary fiction set in Wyoming, and poetry set in the West. His work is noted for its realism, sense of place, characterization, prose style, and blending of popular and literary styles

The Hudson Valley Writer Center is a non-profit literary arts organization in Philipsburg Manor, Sleepy Hollow, NY. It was established on August 5, 1988, by Margo Taft Stever, a Sleepy Hollow poet, with the assistance of the Westchester Council of Arts, and moved into its permanent home at the Philipse Manor Railroad Station in 1996. The center hosts over 40 readings/workshops with poets, fiction and non-fiction authors, and playwrights over the course of a year, as well as popular recurring monthly events like Open Mic, Open Write and Submission Sunday. They also publish chapbooks annually under its imprint, Slapering Hol Press.
