X-Fusion is a solo electronic music project by German musician, producer and DJ, Jan Loamfield known as Jan L.. [1] Loamfield began releasing acid house tracks in 1988, and by 2000, had moved to harsh industrial/aggrotech. Loamfield has also released several albums under a side project, Noisuf-X.

Career

In 1988, Loamfield began producing music on a Commodore 64, in combination with organ sequences, before upgrading to better equipment. In 1991 his first demo tape, "Syndromic Noise", was released. This and its subsequent release are usually classified as hard trance. Loamfield soon began performing live at techno parties. His music after this point became darker, and evolved to aggrotech/dark electro. In 2003, he was signed by independent label Dark Dimensions/SCANNER, which marked the beginning of the X-Fusion project.

Loamfield used several neo-classical/orchestral goth elements in later releases, mixing industrial, Aggrotech/Hellektro and Gothic, Darkwave.

The 2004 album Beyond the Pale reached number 6 on the Deutsche Alternative Charts, [2] and the 2007 album Rotten to the Core reached #16 for the year. [3] In 2008, Vast Abysm went to #2, [4] as did Ultima Ratio in 2009. [5]

Noisuf-X is X-Fusion's side project launched in 2005, [6] identified as power noise, with some techno-industrial and TBM influences. Noisuf-X has released 12 albums to date. The album Tinnitus peaked at #3 on the German Alternative Charts (DAC) and ranked #36 on the DAC Top Albums of 2006. [7]

Electro-industrial is a music genre that emerged from industrial music in the early 1980s. While EBM has a minimal structure and clean production, electro-industrial tends to have a grittier, complex and layered sound with a more experimental approach. The style was pioneered by Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Numb, and other groups, either from Canada or the Benelux. In the early 1990s, the style spawned the dark electro genre, and in the mid-/late-1990s, the aggrotech offshoot. The fan base for the style is linked to the rivethead subculture.

Endzeit Bunkertracks is an aggrotech/electro-industrial compilation album series featuring exclusive, deleted and/or hard-to-find tracks. The first volume, or "act", consists of 60 tracks, 50 of them being exclusive. Endzeit Bunkertracks follows a style where the album is divided into four "sessions": Evil, Torture, Damage and Death. The second act was released on 11 May 2006, and the third on 26 November 2007. All three came in 4-CD boxes, limited to 1, 666 copies. The fourth volume was released on 13 February 2009.

Panzer AG is the name of an aggrotech/industrial rock side-project by Norwegian Andy LaPlegua, the founder of futurepop band Icon of Coil. Formed in 2004, Panzer AG's sound combines Power noise, Industrial, Trance, Rock and other genres to create a caustic but danceable form of music.

Straftanz was a German electronic dance music project, established in the summer of 2006. Straftanz consisted of a loose group of artists who called themselves the Straftanz ZK. Additional artists involved were Carsten Jacek (SITD), Mille Petrozza, and Myk Jung who were involved in the recording of the first album Forward Ever. Straftanz also collaborated with the futurepop project Rotersand by way of sharing ideas and equipment. In interviews, Straftanz described its musical style as "Industrial-Streetfighting-Dance". In fact, the sound of Straftanz is best described as a mixture of EBM, futurepop, trance, rave, metal, and rhythm noise elements that are tied together with a present dance groove.
