Ringsend

Ringsend is a southside inner suburb of Dublin, Ireland. It is located on the south bank of the River Liffey and east of the River Dodder, about two kilometres east of the city centre. It is the southern terminus of the East Link Toll Bridge. Areas included in Ringsend are the south side of the Dublin Docklands, and at the west end is the area of South Lotts and part of the Grand Canal Dock area. Neighbouring areas include Irishtown, Sandymount and the Beggars Bush part of Ballsbridge to the south, and the city centre to the west. A key feature of the area is the chimneys of Poolbeg power station.

Belfast Harlequins is a multi-sports club located off the Malone Road in south Belfast, Northern Ireland. The club name provides the overall umbrella for rugby union, men's and ladies' hockey and squash. The club is associated on and off the field with Methodist College Belfast (MCB).

CIYMS Hockey Club is a hockey club based at C.I.Y.M.S. Sports Club, Circular Road, Belfast. Home fixtures are played on a sand-filled artificial surface. The club was founded in 1896 as Cliftonville and was one of the founding members of the Ulster Hockey Union. The 1st XI currently plays in the Ulster Senior League. The first reported match was played against North Down at Comber in November 1896 where an eight-goal to nil loss was recorded. In 2018, the club changed its name to CIYMS.

Founded in 1883, Dublin University A.F.C. is the oldest surviving association football club in the Republic of Ireland. Their senior men's team currently competes in the Leinster Senior League. Railway Union Sports Club is a multi-sports club based in Sandymount, Dublin 4, Ireland. The club was founded in 1904 and was originally known as the Railway and Steam Packet Athletic and Social Union. The club organises teams in various sports and activities including cricket, field hockey, indoor hockey, rugby union, association football, tennis, bowls and bridge. Railway Union women's field hockey and women's rugby union teams both play in the top level of their respective national leagues. Railway Union women's field hockey team also represented Ireland in the 2014 EuroHockey Club Champions Cup.

Freebooters F.C was an association football club from Sandymount, Dublin, Ireland. Their highest achievement was reaching the Irish Cup final which was staged at the City and County Grounds, Jones Road, Dublin, now Croke Park. They lost to Cliftonville F.C., in the first Irish Cup final to be played outside Belfast. Freebooters had beaten Linfield F.C. 2-1 in the semi final at the Jones Road venue.

The club was founded in 1893 and, together with the YMCA Cricket Club and the YMCA Hockey Club, it was part of the YMCA group of sports clubs based at Claremount Road, Sandymount. Today this group also includes Mount Merrion YMCA F.C. who play in the Leinster Senior League.

Pioneers Football Club are an Irish association football club based in Dublin. It was founded in 1908 by members of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association. Between 1922–23 and 1925–26 they played four seasons in the League of Ireland. In 2009–10 Pioneers were playing in the Amateur Football League. In 2015 Pioneers were revived after a five season period of inactivity. They now play in the Leinster Senior League.

The Universities Act, 1997 renamed the constituent university as the "National University of Ireland, Dublin", and a ministerial order of 1998 renamed the institution as "University College Dublin – National University of Ireland, Dublin".

Cliftonville Cricket Ground was a sports ground in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was previously used for cricket, football and hockey, hosting a football international in 1887, but was closed following sectarian attacks in 1972. It is now owned by Belfast City Council and used for Gaelic games.

Harold Alexander Cahill, also known as Harry Cahill, was a former Great Britain and Ireland men's field hockey international goalkeeper. He represented Great Britain at the 1960, 1964 and 1968 Summer Olympics. Between 1953 and 1973 he made 72 senior appearances for Ireland. He also represented Ireland at the 1970 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship. In 1961 Cahill won an Irish Senior Cup winners medal with Belfast YMCA. In 2006 he was inducted into the inaugural Irish Hockey Association Hall of Fame. He died on 18 September 2009 while on holiday in France.
