The YWCA-YMCA Guides and Scouts of Norway (Norwegian : Norges KFUK-KFUM-speidere) is a Norwegian Scouting and Guiding association founded in its present form in 2003, when the YMCA-Scouts and the YWCA-Guides merged. Norges KFUK-KFUM-speidere serves about 13,000 members.

The association is a member of Speidernes Fellesorganisasjon, the national Scouting and Guiding federation of Norway. It is divided in 20 districts with about 350 local troops.

History

Guiding within the YWCA was started in 1920, Scouting in the YMCA in 1945. [1] In 2003 both organizations merged; [1] for the first years after the merger, the association run both former programs and the units were free to decide if they followed the Guide or the Scout scheme. In 2007, a new organizational structure as well as new program were decided.

Emblem

The elements used in the logo of the Norges KFUK-KFUM-speidere are a fleur-de-lis for Boy Scouting, a trefoil for Girl Guiding and a triangle for YWCA-YMCA. The triangle is more prominent in the historic logo of Norges KFUM speidere prior to the merger.

Parliamentary elections were held in Norway on 7 and 8 September 1969. Although the Labour Party remained the largest party, winning 74 of the 150 seats, the coalition of right-of-centre parties won 76 seats and retained power. The closeness of the result and fears of the two blocs winning an equal number of seats led to the number of seats being increased to an odd number for the next elections.

The Danish Scout Council is the national Scouting federation of Denmark. Scouting was founded in Denmark in 1909 and it was among the charter members of WOSM in 1920. Denmark has 70,000 Scouts.

The Guides and Scouts of Norway is the national Scouting and Guiding federation of Norway, founded in 2003. It took over the WOSM membership of Norges Speiderforbund and the WAGGGS membership of the Fellesrådet for speiderpiker i Norge. Speidernes Fellesorganisasjon serves 17,348 Scouts and 14,443 Guides.

Svenska Scoutrådet was, until 2012, the national Scouting and Guiding Federation of Sweden. The council was dissolved in September 2013 after a restructuring process creating the new single national Scout association, Scouterna.

In the Faroe Islands, there are four Scout and Guiding associations forming the Føroya Skótaráð. They work under the same basic rules, but they do have their own specialties.

The Scout and Guide movement in Denmark consists of about ten different associations. Most of them are members of two large federations, but there are also some independent organizations. Affiliated to Danish Scouting and Guiding are the organizations in Greenland, on the Faroe Islands and in Southern Schleswig.

Scouterna - the Guides and Scouts of Sweden is the national Scouting and Guiding organisation of Sweden. The organisation was formed in 2012 by a restructuring of the Svenska Scoutförbundet and accepted as the successor of the Svenska Scoutrådet by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 2013. Natholmen or Nattholmen is an island in Sandefjord Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The island is located in the Tønsbergfjorden at the entrance to the Lahellefjorden. The Industry and Business Party is a Norwegian political party founded at Vemork in Rjukan on 29 February 2020. The party describes itself as a centre-oriented moderate party, with the slogans "Stability and predictability", "Development, not liquidation" and will, among other things, work to prevent a restriction of the oil and gas industry and better framework conditions for business in general. On 1 February 2023, the Health Party formally started the merging process with the Industry and Business Party.

Resett, also known as Resett.no, was a Norwegian online newspaper, which published news and op-ed content. The website was launched in 2017 with Helge Lurås as editor-in-chief. Resett aimed to "present cases from a different angle than established mass media, and to cover news that other media do not want to cover". The newspaper closed operations in December 2022.

Margrethe Parm (1882–1966) was a Norwegian Christian leader, teacher, scout leader and prison director. She founded Norway's YWCA Scouts in 1920.
