The Yachi River Bridge is an arch bridge currently under construction in Guizhou, China. Once complete the bridge, at 272 m (892 ft), will be one of the highest in world. It will also be one of the longest arch bridges with a main span of 436 m (1,430 ft). The bridge will cross the Yachi River between Qianxi County in Bijie and Qingzhen in Guiyang. The bridge is part of the Chengdu–Guiyang high-speed railway.

An arch bridge is a bridge with abutments at each end shaped as a curved arch. Arch bridges work by transferring the weight of the bridge and its loads partially into a horizontal thrust restrained by the abutments at either side. A viaduct may be made from a series of arches, although other more economical structures are typically used today.

Guizhou, is a province of the People's Republic of China located in the southwestern part of the country. Its capital city is Guiyang. Guizhou is a relatively poor and economically undeveloped province, but rich in natural, cultural and environmental resources. Demographically it is one of China's most diverse provinces. Although Yachi Railway Bridge is officially 272 metres high, the bridge will cross over the reservoir of the Suofengying Dam so it will only be approximately 230 metres above the water level.

Suofengying Dam

The Suofengying Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Wu River, 44 km (27 mi) northwest of Guiyang in Guizhou Province, China. It is located 35.5 km (22 mi) downstream of the Dongfeng Dam and 74.9 km (47 mi) upstream of the Wujiangdu Dam. The primary purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power generation and it supports a 600 MW power station. Construction on the dam began on 26 July 2002 and on December 18 of that year, the river was diverted. Pouring of roller-compacted concrete into the dam's body began on 14 January 2004 and in June, the dam began to impound its reservoir. On 18 August, the first generator was operational and the last two in 2005. The 121.8 m (400 ft) tall dam creates a reservoir with a capacity of 201,200,000 m3 (163,115 acre⋅ft). The dam's power station is located on its right bank and contains three 200 MW Francis turbine-generators.

Beipan River Guanxing Highway Bridge

The Beipan River Guanxing Highway Bridge or Beipanjiang River 2003 Bridge is a 366-metre-high suspension bridge on the Guanxing Highway near Xingbei Town (Xinbeizhen), Zhenfeng County, Guizhou Province, China. The bridge has a span length of 388 metres. When it opened in 2003 it was the world's highest bridge. It held that title until the opening of the Hegigio Gorge Pipeline Bridge in 2005.

Liuguanghe Bridge bridge

Liuguanghe Bridge is a 305 metre high beam bridge at Liu Guangzhen, Guizhou, China. It held the record for world's highest bridge between 2001 and 2003, surpassing the 72-year-old 291 m (955 ft) high Royal Gorge Bridge, until the opening of the 366 m (1,201 ft) Beipan River Guanxing Highway Bridge. As of 2011, it is still the highest beam bridge and is among the twenty highest bridges in the world.

Zhijing River Bridge

Zhijing River Bridge was the highest arch bridge in the world upon its completion in 2009. The 294 metres high bridge in the Three Gorges region of China carries the G50 Shanghai–Chongqing Expressway across the valley of the Zhijing River, a northern tributary of the Qing River. With a main span of 430 metres the bridge is also one of the 20 longest arch bridges in the world. The bridge is located between the towns of Yesanguan and Dazhiping in Badong County of the Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Hubei Province. The world's highest bridge the Sidu River Bridge is situated only 20km eastwards along the G50 Shanghai–Chongqing Expressway.

Beipan River Shuibai Railway Bridge

The Beipan River Shuibai Railway Bridge was the world's highest railway bridge from 2001 to 2016. The bridge spans a deep canyon on the Beipan River near the city of Liupanshui in Guizhou province, China. The arch bridge, with a maximum height of 275 metres and a span width of 236 metres, was built in 2001 with the construction of the Shuibai Railway.

Wushan Yangtze River Bridge bridge in Peoples Republic of China

The Wushan Yangtze River Bridge is an arch bridge, which carries S301 Provincial Road across the Yangtze River near Wushan, Chongqing, China. Completed in 2005, the 130 metres (430 ft) high arch spans 460 metres (1,510 ft) ranking it in the top ten longest arch bridges in the world. The bridge is also among the highest in the world however, the reservoir created by the construction of the Three Gorges Dam has increased the height of the water below the bridge, and the full 180 metres (590 ft) clearance is no longer visible.

The Daning River Bridge is an arch bridge near Wushan, Chongqing, China. The bridge opened in 2009 carrying traffic on the G42 Shanghai–Chengdu Expressway across the Daning River. The bridge spans 400 metres (1,300 ft) making it one of the longest arch bridges in the world. The bridge is also among the highest in the world however the reservoir created by the construction of the Three Gorges Dam has increased the height of the river below the bridge and the full 219 metres (719 ft) clearance is no longer visible.

The Wanzhou Railway Bridge is an arch bridge in Wanzhou, Chongqing, China. The bridge was completed in 2005 and carries the Yichang−Wanzhou Railway across the Yangtze River. The bridge spans 360 metres (1,180 ft) making it one of the longest arch bridges in the world.

Xixi Bridge

Xixi Bridge is a 701 metres (2,300 ft) long suspension bridge on the border of Dafang County and Qianxi County in Guizhou, China. The bridge forms part of China National Highway 321 between Bijie and Guiyang. As of 2012, it is among the forty highest bridges in the world sitting 218 metres (715 ft) above the natural river level. The reservoir from the Hongjiadu Dam on the Liuchong River extends below the bridge and when full, it reduces the clearance below the bridge to 165 metres (541 ft).

Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge

The Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge crosses the Yangtze River in Nanjing, Jiangsu. Construction of the bridge started in 2006 and it was completed in 2010. The bridge has two main spans of 336 m (1,102 ft) it is one of the largest arch bridges in the world. It carries six tracks: two for the Beijing–Shanghai High-Speed Railway, two for the Shanghai–Wuhan–Chengdu high-speed railway and two for line S3 of the Nanjing Metro.

The Yachi River Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge in Guizhou, China. The bridge is the fourth highest in the world. It is also one of the longest cable-stayed bridges with a main span of 800 m (2,600 ft). The western tower is 258.2 m (847 ft) placing it amongst the tallest bridges in the world. The eastern tower is 243.2 m (798 ft). The bridge crosses the Yachi River between Qianxi County in Bijie and Qingzhen in Guiyang. The bridge carries traffic on the Guiyang to Qianxi Expressway.

The Najiehe Railway Bridge is a steel arch bridge in central Guizhou, China. With a rail height of 305 m (1,001 ft), this is the highest railway bridge in world. Qinglong Railway Bridge is the world's longest span concrete arch bridge located in Qinglong County, Guizhou. The bridge forms part of the High speed railway line between Guiyang and Kunming. It crosses the Beipan River just downstream of the Guangzhao Dam. The bridge is almost 300 metres above the river making it the highest High speed railway bridge ever built.

The Lancang River Railway Bridge is an arch bridge under construction linking the cities of Baoshan and Dali in western Yunnan Province, China. Once completed, the bridge will be one of the highest in world, sitting 271 m (889 ft) above the Lancang River. The bridge's main span will be 342 m (1,122 ft) making it also one of the longest arch bridges ever built. The bridge is expected to be completed in 2019.

The Guiyang–Kaiyang intercity railway is a higher-speed railway within Guizhou province, connecting the provincial capital of Guiyang to Kaiyang. Line starts at Guiyang North Station, travelling 62 km (39 mi) north-east to Kaiyang Station.

The Liuguanghe Xiqian Expressway Bridge is a 375 metres high cable-stay bridge crossing the Yachi River between Xiuwen, Guiyang, and Qianxi, Bijie in Guizhou, China.
