The Yadkin Valley Wine Festival is an annual wine festival held on the third Saturday of May at Elkin Municipal Park in Elkin, North Carolina. Vineyards in the Yadkin Valley AVA are exclusively featured in this one-day festival. [1] Thirty wineries and vineyards participated in 2013 festival. [2]

History

The festival began in 2001. The event is free to the public except for those tasting, buying or consuming festival wine, which has a single fee to cover all vendors for the event. and includes entertainment. A number of food and non-alcoholic refreshments are provided, as is entertainment. [3]

The event is held the 3rd Saturday of May each year at the Elkin Municipal Park in Elkin, North Carolina.

Yadkin Valley AVA

The Yadkin Valley AVA is an American Viticultural Area that includes land in eight counties of northwestern North Carolina. The AVA encompasses an area of approximately 1,400,000 acres (5,666 km2) in the Yadkin River valley. The Yadkin Valley AVA includes all of Wilkes, Surry, and Yadkin counties, and parts of Davie, Davidson, Forsyth, Iredell, and Stokes counties. Yadkin Valley is home to 48 wineries.

Mexican wine

Mexican wine and wine making began with the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century, when they brought vines from Europe to modern day Mexico, the oldest wine-growing region in the Americas. Although there were indigenous grapes before the Spanish conquest, the Spaniards found that Spanish grapevines also did very well in the colony of New Spain (Mexico) and by the 17th century wine exports from Spain to the New World fell. In 1699, Charles II of Spain prohibited wine making in Mexico, with the exception of wine for Church purposes. From then until Mexico’s Independence, wine was produced in Mexico only on a small scale.

Shelton Vineyards is a vineyard located in Dobson, North Carolina. Of over 95 North Carolina wineries, Shelton Vineyards is the largest family-owned estate winery in North Carolina. Located in the Yadkin Valley near Mt. Airy, the estate is 406-acre (1.64 km2) acres. The Shelton Vineyards' wines are reflective of the terroir of the Yadkin Valley. Shelton Vineyards has produced many award-winning wines.

Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival Annual event in Temecula, California, United States

The Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival is held annually, the first weekend of June at Lake Skinner Recreation Area in the Temecula Valley AVA of Southern California. The event features morning balloon launches, evening balloon glows, wine tasting from more than 20 wineries, wine competition, food and wine pairing, concerts featuring country on Friday, Classic Rock and Rock on Saturday, and Jazz on Sunday. There is also a giant arts and craft faire, kids faire, and fine art paintings on exhibit within the wine gardens. In 2020 and 2021 it was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

North Carolina Wine Festival Festival

The North Carolina Wine Festival is one of several annual events showcasing vineyards from all across the state of North Carolina. It is the largest one-day wine festival in the state. It began in 2001 as a way to showcase the over 100 different wineries in the state. It was held at Tanglewood Park, in Clemmons, North Carolina. The 20th annual festival will be held on 16 October 2021 and have over 30 participating wineries; there was no event in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic was to blame. The general manager for WSJS-AM, Tom Hamilton, is also the festival director.

Hopewell Valley Vineyards

Hopewell Valley Vineyards is a winery in Hopewell Township in Mercer County, New Jersey. The vineyard was first planted in 2001, and opened to the public in 2003. Hopewell Valley has 25 acres of grapes under cultivation, and produces 6,000 cases of wine per year. The winery is named for the region where it is located.
