Yamarus Kenyon Banks Jr. (born March 19, 2002) is an American college football safety for the Ole Miss Rebels. He previously played for the South Alabama Jaguars.

Early life

Banks grew up in Ridgeland, Mississippi and attended Ridgeland High School where he lettered in football and baseball. Coming out of high school, Banks decided to commit to play college football for the South Alabama Jaguars. [1] [2]

College career

South Alabama

In Banks first season in 2020 he notched two tackles. [3] During the 2021 season, Banks recorded 49 tackles, with four and a half going for a loss, two pass deflections, and two forced fumbles. [4] In week four of the 2022 season, Banks had a breakout game against Louisiana Tech, where he recovered a fumble, broke up three passes, and intercepeted two pass, which he returned one for a touchdown. [5] In the 2022 season, Banks made 50 tackles, 11 pass deflections, six interceptions and a touchdown. [6] For his performance on the 2022 season, Banks was named first team all Sun-Belt. [7] During the 2023 season, Banks notched 46 tackles with five and a half being for a loss, four pass deflections, and an interception. [8] For his performance on the 2023 season, Banks was named third team all Sun-Belt. [9] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Banks decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal. [10] [11]

Banks finished his career at South Alabama with 146 tackles, two and a half sacks, seven interceptions, 16 pass deflections, and three forced fumbles. [12]

Ole Miss

Banks decided to transfer to play for the Ole Miss Rebels. [13] [14]
