She is known for her roles as Natasha Binder in the 1993 film Hard Target, Jess Crossman in Drop Zone (1994), and Detective Sara Pezzini on the TNT supernatural drama series Witchblade. For her performance in Witchblade, she won a Saturn Award for Best Actress in a Television Series.

Kang Youwei was a political thinker and reformer in China of the late Qing dynasty. His increasing closeness to and influence over the young Guangxu Emperor sparked conflict between the emperor and his adoptive mother, the regent Empress Dowager Cixi. His ideas were influential in the abortive Hundred Days' Reform. Following the coup by Cixi that ended the reform, Kang was forced to flee. Indonesia Accuses is a speech read by future President of Indonesia Sukarno in his defense during his 1930 trial in Landraad, Bandung, Indonesia. Sukarno, along with Gatot Mangkupraja and Maskun Supriadinata, was accused of trying to overthrow the colonial government of the Dutch East Indies and thrown in jail. All three were founders of the Indonesian National Party (PNI). While in prison, Sukarno wrote the speech, which condemned international political conditions and the destruction of Indonesian society under colonial rule, making the speech a landmark political document against colonialism and imperialism.

Typhoon Yancy, known as Typhoon Gading in the Philippines, was an erratic tropical cyclone that delivered significant impacts in Taiwan and southeastern China in 1990. Originating from an area of disturbed weather within the monsoon trough, it organized into Tropical Storm Yancy on August 14. The system moved westward for several days and slowly gathered strength, becoming a typhoon on August 16 and reaching one-minute peak winds of 165 km/h (105 mph) the next day. Yancy moved erratically as it skirted along the northern coastline of Taiwan and made a subsequent landfall in southeastern China, where it lingered for several days before dissipating on August 23.
