The Mapinduzi Cup is a top knockout football tournament in Zanzibar. Mapinduzi means Revolution in swahili, in recognition of the Zanzibar Revolution. The Mapinduzi Cup is a tournament created by the Zanzibar Football Federation to commemorate Zanzibar's Revolution day which is marked annually on 12 January. The 2022–23 Tanzanian Premier League was the 58th season of the Tanzanian Premier League, the top-tier football league in Tanzania, since its establishment in 1965. The season started on 27 September 2021. The season ended with Young Africans S.C. clinching their 29th premier league title, losing only two games in the entire season. This was the team's second consecutive championship win. Congolese striker Fiston Kalala Mayele along with Burundian striker Saidi Ntibazonkiza were the top scorers of the season.
