Yohana Daniel Izam is a Nigerian Academic,former Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University, and Past President of the Nigerian Institute of Building. He was previously the Commissioner for Housing and Transport in Plateau State, Nigeria. [1]
Izam was born on 13 January 1967 at Mangu in Plateau State. [1] He graduated from Federal Government College Wukari and proceeded to attend the University of Jos, graduating with his B.Sc. in Building in 1987. He earned his M.Sc. from the University of Lagos in 1990 and returned to the University of Jos for his PhD in Construction Management, graduating in 2008. [1] [2]
Jos is a city in the North-Central region of Nigeria. The city has a population of about 900,000 residents based on the 2006 census. Popularly called "J-Town", it is the administrative capital and largest city of Plateau State. The city is situated on the Jos plateau which is embedded in the Guinea Savannah of North-Central Nigeria. It connects most of the North-Eastern capitals to the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, by road. Driving in and out of Jos, traffic encounters very steep sloppy bends and mountainous sceneries typical of the plateau landform. The name of the state was coined from its affiliation to this landform.
Plateau State is a north central Nigerian state. It is located near the centre of Nigeria and includes a range of hills surrounding the Jos Plateau. Plateau State is described as "The Home of Peace and Tourism". The state has a population of around 4.7 million people. Its capital city is Jos.

The Berom is one of the largest autochthonous ethnic group in Plateau State, central Nigeria. Covering about four local government areas, which include Riyom, Jos North, Jos South and Barkin Ladi (Gwol). Berom people are also found in some southern Kaduna State local government areas like Fadan Karshe with Berom settlers tracing their origins to Za'ang a Berom district on the Jos Plateau. They emigrated during the British Colonial Government of Nigeria. A large number of this tribe, if not all, are Christians. Statistics also have it that a large number of the population of Plateau State is made up of Berom people.
The 2010 Jos riots were clashes between Muslim and Christian ethnic groups in central Nigeria in and near the city of Jos. The first spate of violence of 2010 started on 17 January in Jos and spread to surrounding communities. Houses, churches, mosques and vehicles were set ablaze, during at least four days of fighting. At least 326 people, and possibly more than a thousand, were killed.
Chief (Dr.) Solomon Daushep Lar was a Nigerian politician who has held various offices at the National level for over 50 years. He was a member of the first national parliament when Nigeria gained independence in 1960. He was elected governor of Plateau State on the Nigerian People's Party (NPP) platform during the Nigerian Second Republic, holding office from October 1979 until the Military coup of 31 December 1983 that brought General Muhammadu Buhari to power. Later, he was founding chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
Lawrence Anebi Onoja was the military governor of Plateau State, Nigeria from 1986 to July 1988 and then of Katsina State until December 1989 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. He later became Principal Staff Officer to General Sani Abacha, before being arrested for alleged involvement in a coup attempt. He retired from the army in 1998, and after the return to democracy in May 1999 with the Nigerian Fourth Republic entered into politics.

Da Jacob Gyang Buba CFR is a retired Nigeria customs officer and elder statesman. He served as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service from 2004 to 2008. On April 1, 2009, he was sworn in as the Gbong Gwom, the paramount traditional ruler of the Berom Kingdom, becoming the 5th Gbong Gwom after the demise of Da Victor Dung Pam. He is the Chairman, Jos Traditional Council of Chiefs and president of the Plateau State Traditional Council. He currently serves as the 3rd Chancellor of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University since March 2016 at the 10th convocation of the institution.
The 2023 Plateau State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Plateau State, concurrent with elections to the Plateau State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Simon Lalong is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
