Yoheved Kaplinsky

Yoheved "Veda" Kaplinsky (born March 23, 1947, in Tel Aviv, British Mandate of Palestine [now Israel]) is a lecturer and professor of music at the Juilliard School. She heads the Pre-College department at Juilliard.

Education

She studied piano under Ilona Vincze-Kraus at the Israel Academy of Music (now the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music) and earned her bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees from the Juilliard School as a student of Irwin Freundlich. She continued her studies with Dorothy Taubman.

Professional career

She began her teaching career at Philadelphia University of the Arts and then taught at the Manhattan School of Music in 1987. Between 1989 and 1997 she taught at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.

In 1993, she began to teach at the Juilliard School. She became the chairperson of the Piano Division in 1997.

For many years, she was a professor of Piano in the Texas Christian University School of Music and was a member of the faculty at the Aspen Music Festival and School. [1]

Stanislav Ioudenitch is an Uzbekistani-born American pianist, known for winning the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Gold Medal at the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2001, jointly with Olga Kern, as well as the Steven De Groote Memorial Award for Best Performance of Chamber Music. He has also won top prizes at the Busoni, Kapell, and Maria Callas Competitions, as well as at the 1998 Palm Beach Invitational and the 2000 New Orleans International. His win at the Van Cliburn Competition led to a recital debut at the Aspen Music Festival and a European tour, highlighted by appearances at summer festivals in France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom.

Ilona Vincze-Krausz or Kraus was a Hungarian-Israeli teacher of current classical piano pedagogues.

The Thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition took place in Fort Worth, Texas from May 22 to June 7, 2009. The competitors were selected by a screening jury during screening auditions that took place in January and February 2009. The Takács Quartet performed with the semifinalists, while the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra conducted by James Conlon accompanied the finalists.

José Feghali was a Brazilian pianist, who, until his death, was an Artist-in-Residence at Texas Christian University's school of music in piano. He was the gold medalist winner of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1985.

He performed with such orchestras as Kansas City Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Costa Rica National Symphony, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and Baltimore Symphony.
