Yonah Acosta

Yonah Acosta Gonzales, usually credited as Yonah Acosta, is a Cuban actor and ballet dancer. [1] He is most noted for his performance in the 2020 film Without Havana (Sin la Habana), for which he received a Prix Iris nomination for Revelation of the Year at the 24th Quebec Cinema Awards. [2]

The nephew of dancer and director Carlos Acosta, [1] he has danced with the Cuban National Ballet, the English National Ballet [3] and the Bayerisches Staatsballett. [4]

Alicia Alonso Cuban ballerina (1920–2019)

Alicia Alonso was a Cuban prima ballerina assoluta and choreographer whose company became the Ballet Nacional de Cuba in 1955. She is best known for her portrayals of Giselle and the ballet version of Carmen.

Carlos Acosta Cuban ballet dancer

Carlos Yunior Acosta Quesada CBE is a Cuban-British ballet director and retired dancer who is director of the Birmingham Royal Ballet. He danced with many companies including the English National Ballet, National Ballet of Cuba, Houston Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. He was a permanent member of The Royal Ballet from 1998 to 2015. In 2003, he was promoted to principal guest artist, a rank which reduced his commitment, enabling him to concentrate on a growing schedule of international guest appearances and tours. He celebrated his farewell after 17 years at The Royal Ballet, dancing his last performance in November 2015 in Carmen, which he both choreographed and starred in.

Prix de Lausanne

The Prix de Lausanne is an international dance competition held annually in Lausanne, Switzerland. The competition is for young dancers seeking to pursue a professional career in classical ballet, and many former prize winners of the competition are now leading stars with major ballet companies around the world. The competition is managed by a non-profit foundation organised by the Fondation en faveur de l'Art chorégraphique and is maintained by various sponsors, patrons and donors.

Alberto Julio Rayneri Alonso was a Cuban dancer and choreographer, the brother of Fernando Alonso and brother-in-law of Alicia Alonso. He was influential in the development of the Cuban style of ballet, a combination of Russian and Western techniques with a Latin style.

Lorna Feijóo is a Cuban former ballet dancer. Her career started at the Cuban National Ballet, where she rose through the ranks. She left Cuba in 2001, then spent two years with the Cincinnati Ballet, before joining the Boston Ballet in 2003, where she remained as a principal dancer until she retired. Her sister, Lorena Feijóo, was also a ballet dancer.
