Yousef Shawarbeh (born 1968 [1] ) is a Jordanian politician,the 40th and current mayor of Amman,Jordan since 2017.
Shawarbeh holds a master's degree in law.
Shawarbeh was a member of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and headed Tareq neighbourhood's local committee. [1] He was appointed deputy mayor of the GAM in September 2013 [1] and mayor Amman in August 2017. [2] [3] In March 2022,the Cabinet renewed his mayoral mandate. [4]
In 2023,United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Shawarbeh to his Advisory Group on Local and Regional Governments,co-chaired by Pilar Cancela Rodríguez and Fatimatou Abdel Malick. [5]
The politics of Jordan takes place in a framework of a parliamentary monarchy,whereby the Prime Minister of Jordan is head of government,and of a multi-party system. Jordan is a constitutional monarchy based on the constitution promulgated on January 8,1952. The king exercises his power through the government he appoints which is responsible before the Parliament. In contrast to most parliamentary monarchies,the monarchy of Jordan is not ceremonial,with the King having significant influence over the affairs of the country.
The foreign relations of Jordan have been consistently a pro-Western foreign policy.

Israel–Jordan relations are the diplomatic,economic and cultural relations between Israel and Jordan. The two countries share a land border,with three border crossings:Yitzhak Rabin/Wadi Araba Crossing,Jordan River Crossing and the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge Crossing,that connects the West Bank with Jordan. The relationship between the two countries is regulated by the Israel–Jordan peace treaty in 1994,which formally ended the state of war that had existed between the two countries since the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948,and also established diplomatic relations,besides other matters. Relations between the countries get strained from time to time,usually over tensions at the Al-Aqsa mosque. On 8 October 2020,Israel and Jordan reached an agreement to allow flights to cross over both countries’airspace.

Nasser Judeh is a Jordanian politician who served as Jordan's longest serving minister of foreign affairs,having served between 2009 and 2017 in eight consecutive governments. He also served as deputy prime minister from 2015 to 2017. He serves as a senator in the Jordanian Upper House of Parliament.
Ghaleb Zu'bi is a Jordanian lawyer and politician who served in different post at the various cabinets of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Zu'bi was appointed minister of interior by Prime Minister Hani Al-Mulki on 15 January 2017 and served in the post until 25 February 2018.
Sigrid Agnes Maria Kaag is a Dutch politician,humanitarian and diplomat who is the UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza since 2024. Jordan –Qatar relations are the bilateral relations between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the State of Qatar. Diplomatic relations were established in 1972. Jordan has an embassy in Doha. Qatar also has an embassy in Amman.
