Yuhua Shouzhi Wang

Yuhua Shouzhi Wang (born 1966), [1] is a contemporary Chinese American artist. In 2000, she worked as a professor in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University. She is the Lifetime Honorary Chairwoman of the International Art Museum of America where her work is on permanent exhibit. [2] [3] Dr. Yuhua Shouzhi Wang was recognized as an international first-class artist by New York Academy of Art.

Awards, honors, and achievements

In 2013, President George Christophides of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers, and Associations (WFUCA) conferred the title "2013 WFUCA" to Dr. Wang's artworks. [4]

In 2019, Dr. Wang was recognized as an international first-class artist by New York Academy of Art in the United States. [4]

On March 18, 2019, Dr. Wang's artwork "Pomegranates in Bamboo Basket" of size 27" x 18" commanded $1.27 million in Gianguan Auctions. [3]

Painting style

Dr. Wang's painting style combines elements from Eastern and Western art. Professor Stephen Farthing, a member of the Royal Academy of Arts in the U.K. has remarked that "Dr. Wang’s paintings may draw heavily on the traditions of Eastern art, but they present themselves as extraordinarily Western ideas and images", and that Dr. Wang's mastery is of exquisite magnificence and her paintings "reach across cultures to celebrate the space that exists intellectually and emotionally between representation and abstraction, between a fact and an idea." The Shanghai Biennale is one of the highest-profile contemporary art events in Shanghai and the most established art biennale in China. It was initially held in the Shanghai Art Museum. From 2012 on, it has been hosted in Power Station of Art, the first state-run museum dedicated to contemporary art in mainland China. Shanghai Biennale provides artists, curators, writers and art supporters from around the world with a space to meet and exchange ideas about their experiences, works and inspirations to create international dialogues. It highlights the achievements of Asian artistic creativity and production and challenges the conventional division of the world between East and West. Aside from its main museum show, it also includes talks, lectures and installations in various venues throughout the city.

Vangelis Rinas is a Greek painter and sculptor. He was born on Samos in 1966 and grew up on Ikaria. He holds an MFA from the Athens School of Fine Arts and lives and works in Athens and New York City. Xin Dongwang was a Chinese painter, regarded as one of the representative painters of contemporary Chinese neo-realist oil paintings by art critics and art historians. His works focus on the bottom and marginalized people in life, reflecting the times and people's livelihood issues in Chinese society since the reform and opening up.

Wang Nong was a Chinese artist born in Fengtian, Liaoning Province. His birth name was Litian, and he also went by the name "Guanwai Ren," or "Outsider." In 1949 he migrated to Taiwan, where he pursued a career in graphic design in textile factories as well as in comic creation. Eventually, he focused solely on his artistic pursuits, and received the first-place award in the Chinese painting category in the Zhongshan Literary and Art Creation Awards in 1978. After the lifting of martial law in Taiwan on July 15, 1987, Wang actively engaged in artistic exchanges between Taiwan and mainland China. Aside from ink paintings of horses, he also used characters from Chinese opera as a major creative theme.

Zhang Shengquan, also known as Datong Da Zhang(Chinese: 大同大张), was a prominent figure in Chinese contemporary art, known for his performance art on topics of isolation and struggle. He was one of the main members in art group W·R group.
