Yuvaraja's College, Mysore, is a general degree college (Autonomous) located at Mysore, Karnataka. It was established in the year 1928. It is one of the four constituent colleges of University of Mysore. [1] This college offers different undergraduate and postgraduate courses in science.

The Kingdom of Mysore was a realm in southern India, traditionally believed to have been founded in 1399 by two Hindu brothers, in the vicinity of the modern city of Mysore. From 1799 until 1950, it was a princely state, until 1947 in a subsidiary alliance with British India. The British took direct control over the princely state in 1831. Upon accession to the Dominion of India, it became Mysore State, later uniting with other Kannada speaking regions to form the state of Karnataka, with its ruler remaining as Rajapramukh until 1956, when he became the first governor of the reformed state.
The University of Mysore is a public state university in Mysore, Karnataka, India. The university was founded during the reign of Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV and the premiership of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission for offering higher studies degree courses on-campus as well as online. It was inaugurated on 27 July 1916. Its first chancellor was the maharaja himself; the first Vice-Chancellor was H. V. Nanjundaiah. This was the first university outside of British administered Indian provinces, the sixth in the Indian subcontinent as a whole, and the first in Karnataka. It is a state university of the affiliating type, and was deemed autonomous within the Republic of India on 3 March 1956, when it gained recognition from the University Grants Commission.
Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, also known as Government Medical College, Mysore is one of the oldest medical colleges in India. It is located in the heart of the city of Mysore adjacent to the city railway station. Founded in 1924 by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV, it is the first medical college to be established in the Karnataka region and the seventh in India. The college is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Jayanagar, Bangalore.

Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospitals (BLCH) is a teaching hospital and autonomous university in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. It was originally a medical institution belonging to Mysore State, but in 1884 it was made over to the Civil and Military Administration. This hospital was only the Civil Medical Institution of Bengaluru till 1890. It had accommodation for 104 beds, of which 80 were for men and 24 for women patients. Additional accommodation for female patients was provided by the donations contributed by philanthropic citizens and by the Government of India. Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Institute inaugurated on 29 December 2020 is located close by.

Hampa Nagarajaiah, popularly known by his pen name Hampanā, is an Indian scholar in Kannada language and Jainism. He was born at Hampasandra Village located in Gowribidanur taluk, Chikkaballapura District in the Indian state of Karnataka. Hampanā is married to Kamala Hampana who also a veteran littérateur.

Central College Bengaluru (1858) is one of the oldest colleges in India. This college was originally affiliated to University of Mysore in Mysore State. Rev. John Garrett was the founder and first principal of the Central High School, which was afterwards renamed Central College. In 1964, with the reorganization of the Indian state and the formation of Karnataka, Central College was transferred to Bangalore University, a new university formed in 1965 to meet the needs of the people of Bengaluru. Initially, the two colleges of the city, the Central College (CC) and the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) formed the nucleus of Bangalore University.
Marimallappa's High School, Mysore, India, was founded by Sri Gurikar Marimallappa (1818–1871) as a domestic school, the founding of which was backed by Maharaja Chamarajendra Wadiyar X. The school later became a part of Marimallappa's Educational Institution in 1876, as his legacy.
Devegowda Javaregowda, known as De Ja Gou or simply Javaregowda, was an Indian Kannada writer, folklorist, researcher, scholar and academic. He was disciple of authors T.N. Srikantaiah and Kuvempu. His literary career spans over decades in which he wrote over thirty-four biographies in Kannada language and other works including children's literature. He campaigned for the promotion of Kannada language. He had received Pampa Prashasti (1998), Padma Shri (2001) and the Karnataka Ratna (2008) awards for his contributions in literature and education. He became a centenarian in 2015 and died on 30 May 2016.

It was established in 2008 and is part of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, which runs a variety of educational institutions. JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research is focused on medical and health-related studies, and comprises of JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College and Hospital and JSS College of Pharmacy at the main campus in Mysore as well as JSS College of Pharmacy in Ootacamund, in the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu.
Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, also referred to by his initials, MV, was an Indian civil engineer, administrator, and statesman, who served as the 19th Dewan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918.
Maharani's Science College for Women in Mysore was established in 1917 by the Queen Regent of Mysore, Kempa Nanjammani Vani Vilasa Sannidhana the mother of Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV. Since its inception the college has held an important place in promoting women's education. Originally the college offered both Arts and Science education at undergraduate level but in 1979 what was formerly just the Maharani's College for Women was bifurcated into the Maharani's Science College for Women and the Maharani's Arts College for Women to accommodate the growing number of students.
Basavapatna Narayana Balakrishna Rao (1910–1995) was an Indian surgeon, medical academic, researcher, writer and the president of the Association of Surgeons of India. He was a professor and head of the department of surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. One of the founder fellows of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, he was also an elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 1971, for his contributions to medical science.
