Zadara is a global cloud computing company headquartered in Irvine, California. Since 2024, Zadara has increasingly focused on Sovereign AI edge cloud infrastructure, aiming to provide localized, compliant, and high-performance AI services for enterprise and service provider use cases. Founded in 2011, Zadara provides managed cloud services for compute, storage, and networking, delivered through a global network of edge cloud locations. The company's offerings are designed to support service providers and modern enterprises with scalable, secure, and compliant cloud solutions.
Zadara delivers its services through two main deployment models:
Zadara provides cloud computing services that are deployed at the edge, closer to where data is generated and consumed. This architecture is designed to address challenges related to latency, data sovereignty, and regulatory compliance. The company has been recognized by STL Partners as one of the top 100 edge companies to watch in 2024. [2] With over 500 edge cloud locations worldwide, Zadara enables customers to run workloads in proximity to their operations, supporting low-latency workloads and enabling alignment with local regulatory requirements. Zadara's infrastructure has been optimized for AI workloads, including the use of GPU-accelerated compute and networking technologies aligned with NVIDIA reference architecture guidelines.
Zadara was co-founded in March 2011 by Nelson Nahum, Eli Shapira, Robi Hartman, and Yair Hershko. The company initially focused on providing storage-as-a-service solutions compatible with Amazon Web Services (AWS), allowing users to leverage persistent storage alongside AWS's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2).
In 2014, Zadara was recognized as a "Cool Vendor" by Gartner for its innovative storage solutions. More recently, the company was named a Visionary in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Primary Storage. [3]
In 2021, Zadara acquired NeoKarm, [4] a Tel Aviv-based developer of AWS-compatible cloud systems, to enhance its compute capabilities.
Around the same time, Zadara rebranded from 'Zadara Storage' to simply 'Zadara' to reflect its broader cloud service offerings.
In 2022, Zadara acquired ZVS, [5] a Brazilian cloud services provider, expanding its edge cloud footprint across Latin America and reinforcing its commitment to global coverage and sovereign cloud services.
In April 2023, Yoram Novick was appointed as Zadara's new CEO, [6] with co-founder Nelson Nahum transitioning to the roles of Chief Technology Officer and Chairman of the Board. According to a CRN report, the company also announced intentions to achieve profitability during this leadership transition.
In October 2023, Nelson Nahum officially departed the company.
