Zambri is the New York City based experimental music project of sisters Cristi Jo and Jessica Zambri. [1] The duo write and produce the entirety of recorded material. Drummer Seth Kasper and multi-instrumentalist Will Spitz complete the group's live lineup.

Zambri's first live show in its current lineup occurred on September 12, 2010 at Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. [2] Many positive live reviews circulated shortly after the band's first performances in New York City and Brooklyn. Cristi Jo and Jessica toured south to Austin, TX in March, 2011 to perform several shows as featured vocalists with Hooray For Earth at Austin's yearly SXSW Festival. [3] [4]

The group have released a handful of internet downloads, notably a collaboration with Bear In Heaven's Jon Philpot on the song "Carry". [5] Additionally, the sisters have released several remixes of other artists' work, including tracks by Denmark's Oh No Ono and Grammy Award-winning group Arcade Fire. [6] [7]

In December 2009, FACT Magazine featured a download of "From The Starts". [8]

Cristi Jo and Jessica have been frequently featured online wearing clothing by New York fashion designer SENA. [9]

Alan Yaspan of Brooklyn-based Popgun Booking says: "The intense noisy progressive pop created by Zambri is as shimmering as it is foreboding. They have addictive, approachable melodies as well as perplexing production and complex song constructions that reward the listener's curiosity. The 80’s are strong with this female duet, as hints of The Cure, Kate Bush, and Giorgio Moroder often noticeable, yet Zambri’s ambition and use of sonic wizardry put them amongst the most forward thinking artists in New York City". In Nov 2011, Kanine Records released the sisters' debut EP of self-produced material, Glossolalia. Kanine calls it "a first introduction into the world of Cristi Jo & Jessica Zambri". [11] Zambri says about the EP: "It’s really the first time, besides being in fifth grade, we’re putting music out together." [12]

Following the release of Glossolalia, popular music site Stereogum featured Zambri as their "Band To Watch" in November. [13]

Glossolalia EP produced two music videos, "On Call" and "To Keep Back". [14] [15]

Debut full-length House Of Baasa was announced in early 2012 with three singles, "ICBYS", "Places" and "Hundred Hearts", released in anticipation of the album. [16] [17] [18] SPIN Magazine premiered an "ICBYS" music video. [19]

The group was well received at 2012's SXSW Festival in Austin, TX making appearances at several events including those hosted by SPIN, Under The Radar, Stereogum and Buzz Media. [20] [21]

Kanine Records released House Of Baasa on April 10, 2012. VICE-run music site Noisey hosted a stream of the record on their site the day before release. [22]

Chairlift (band) American synth-pop band

Chairlift was an American synth-pop band. Caroline Polachek and Aaron Pfenning formed Chairlift in 2005 while living in Boulder, Colorado, and Patrick Wimberly joined them when they moved to Brooklyn in 2007. In 2008, Chairlift released their debut album Does You Inspire You. Pfenning left the band in 2010, and as a duo, Polachek and Wimberly released two more albums: 2012's Something and 2016's Moth before announcing the end of Chairlift in December 2016.

Braids (band) Canadian band

Braids is a Canadian art rock band from Calgary, Alberta. Braids currently consists of Raphaelle Standell-Preston, Austin Tufts and Taylor Smith. The band met at a young age and began collaborating in high school. Their debut album, Native Speaker, was released on January 18, 2011 in Canada and the United States to generally positive reviews. The album was shortlisted for the 2011 Polaris Music Prize. The band's second album, Flourish // Perish, was released on August 20, 2013. Their third, Deep in the Iris, was released on April 28, 2015, and was awarded the 2015 Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year.

Now + 4eva is the fifth studio album by Australian indie pop band Architecture in Helsinki. It was released in Australia on 28 March 2014 through the band's own imprint Casual Workout via Inertia. The group also embarked on a tour of the east coast of Australia in support of the album. Online pre-orders of the album from retailer JB Hi-Fi included a signed, printed "zine" detailing the band's inspirations.

Rey Pila Mexican rock band

Rey Pila is a Mexican rock band formed in Mexico City in 2010. The band consists of Diego Solórzano, Andrés Velasco, Rodrigo Blanco and Miguel Hernández, though it started as Solórzano's solo project. The name "Rey Pila" is Spanish for "King Battery", a phrase Diego saw in a painting by the late graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Tei Shi Musical artist

She released her first singles and music videos in 2013, also performing live for the first time at CMJ. Tei Shi released her debut extended play, Saudade, in November 2013, which Noisey described as a "layered masterpiece of melodies... expertly entwined vocal loops, and shivery sonics."

Tacocat American feminist pop punk quartet

Tacocat is an American punk rock band from Seattle, founded in 2007 and consisting of Emily Nokes, Bree McKenna, Lelah Maupin, and Eric Randall. They gained popularity in 2014 following the release of their second album NVM, engineered by Conrad Uno. The album received positive reviews in the music press, including from Pitchfork, AllMusic, and PopMatters, and also reached the CMJ top 10 college radio albums.

Badlands is the musical solo name used by Swedish producer, songwriter and sound designer Catharina Jaunviksna based in Malmö. Her lush sound is clearly inspired by early new wave and The Haçienda's heyday, and the music can further be described as space-age fables told through analog synths, gritty guitars, club beats and organic pop orchestration.

House of Baasa is the debut studio album by American duo Zambri. It was released in April 2012 under Kanine Records.

Holiday Mountain is an electronic music duo founded in 2011 by Mexican-American songwriter and keyboardist Laura Patiño with drummer and producer Zander Kagle. The two met in Boston while attending Berklee College of Music in 2011. The trio is inspired by music groups like Santigold, Major Lazer, and Die Antwoord. The duo combines edm, hip hop, reggae, dubstep, and Cumbia to create a heavy futuristic dance genre. Patiño's vocal stylings & fashion sense is influenced by Billie Holiday, M.I.A., Amy Winehouse, and Gwen Stefani. The name Holiday Mountain is a combination of Billie Holiday and the Rocky Mountains, two large inspirations for Laura Patiño.

Melkbelly

Melkbelly is an American four-piece noise rock band from Chicago, Illinois, United States, made up of Liam Winters (bass), Miranda Winters (guitar/vox), Bart Winters (guitar), and James Wetzel (drums). They are known for their frantic arrangements, toothed melodies, and blaring live show. The group has toured extensively across the US in the last couple of years, and Stereogum called them the "Most Exciting Rock Band at SXSW". They released an album titled Nothing Valley on October 13, 2017, on Wax Nine Records, a subsidiary of Carpark Records.

Tashaki Miyaki American rock band

Tashaki Miyaki is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2011, they immediately began to garner the attention of taste makers such as The Guardian, NME, Mojo Magazine, KCRW and The New York Times for their paisley underground/dream pop–inspired sound and cinematic videos. The band has cited Neil Young as a primary inspiration. After releasing a self titled EP, named a "top 10 EP of 2013" by the Huffington Post UK. and a series of singles, they released their debut LP The Dream on Metropolis Records on April 7, 2017. In April 2017, Frank Ocean played their song "Get It Right" on his Beats 1 Radio show Blonded Radio.
