Zandra Ahl (born 1975) is a Swedish designer, artist, and author.

Biography

Ahl graduated from Konstfack university in 1999. She subsequently became a Professor of glass and ceramics at Konstfack, before becoming the rector of Beckmans College of Design in September 2016. [1] She is the author of the books Fult och snyggt (Ugly and Beautiful) in 1998 and, Svensk smak: myter om den moderna formen (Swedish Taste: The Myth of Modern Design) in 2001, which was co-authored with Emma Ohlson. [2] Her writing caused controversy through their criticism of Swedish design as "banal", "white", and "austere" and its description of Sweden's late-20th century "less is more" aesthetic as a kind of "anorexia-aethetics". [3]

Ahl's works are noted for their humanistic form, using rosettes, plastic rings, and quotes from comic books. [4] Her works are featured in the collections of the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Gothenburg's Röhsska Museum, and the Småland Glass Museum. [2]

In April 2008 the showing of a film, in which Ahl had included criticism of the Nationalmuseum, was withdrawn from display at the Nationalmuseum. Ahl described this as "censorship". The management of the Nationalmuseum described this as being necessary to avoid "a strong strain on our employees". [5]

Love Henrik Samuel Antell is a Swedish-Finnish singer and artist. As a student he attended Adolf Fredrik's Music School in Stockholm. Antell is known as the frontman of the band Florence Valentin, and as a solo singer. Antell's parents were both from Finland. He grew up in Östermalm in central Stockholm but nowadays resides in Hägersten. He was educated as an illustrator at Konstfack between 2001 and 2007, and he is inspired by Lars Hillersberg. Between 2007 and 2011, Antell was a guitarist in the folk-rock group Perssons Pack. He participated in Mika Ronkainen's drama documentary film "Ingen riktig finne"; the film won first prize in the category Best Nordic Documentary at the Gothenburg Film Festival in 2013.

Per Bertil Sundberg is a Swedish ceramic and glass artist. Until 2005 he worked at Orrefors glassworks, and has subsequently been a professor at Konstfack and an independent artist.

Beata Mårtensson-Brummer was a Swedish painter, ceramist, art teacher and philanthropist. After studying in Stockholm, France and Italy, from 1908 she worked at the Gustavsberg Porcelain Factory where she designed glazed vases and pottery. She taught painting at the Högre konstindustriella skolan where she was appointed head teacher in 1915. In 1911, she married the Hungarian-born sculptor Joseph Brummer. After first helping him to run his gallery in Paris, in 1920 she joined him in New York where he ran the Brummer Gallery in Manhattan until his death in 1947. Mårtensson-Brummer returned to Sweden in 1953. On her death in 1956, she bequeathed considerable amounts of funding to Sweden's cultural institutions.
