Zimbabwe Daily News is an internet newspaper published in Zimbabwe and UK. The newspaper was first published independently in 2004 and is owned by 3MG Media.

It has a strong focus on events in Zimbabwe's politics and current events. The site covers a wide range of topics, including sections devoted to politics, entertainment, media, Sports, living, and business. Its roster of bloggers and regular columnists include some prominent Zimbabweans such as Senator Obert Gutu, Eddie Cross MP and businessman Mutumwa Mawere.

It is ranked number 15 Zimbabwe site by Alexa ranking [1] and its stories are occasionally taken up by the print media. [2] [3]

Campaigns and fora

The site has run various current affairs and political campaigns, such as calling for the deportation of Robert Mugabe's daughter Bona from Hong Kong, [4] and more generally for the deportation of individuals with strong links to the Government of Zimbabwe from western countries. [5] Together with the Zimbabwe Telegraph , Zimbabwe Daily News hosts an online forum for Zimbabwean current affairs and society. [6]

Criticism

Zimbabwe Daily News has been accused[ by whom? ] of poor journalistic style and failing to sufficiently verify facts, for example on its reporting of the 2007 Zimbabwean coup d'état attempt. [5]

Grace Ntombizodwa Mugabe is a Zimbabwean entrepreneur, politician and the widow of the late President Robert Mugabe. She served as the First Lady of Zimbabwe from 1996 until her husband's resignation in November 2017, a week after he was ousted from power. Starting as a secretary to Mugabe, she rose in the ranks of the ruling ZANU–PF party to become the head of its Women's League and a key figure in the Generation 40 faction. At the same time, she gained a reputation for privilege and extravagance during a period of economic turmoil in the country. She was given the nickname Gucci Grace due to her extravagance. She was expelled from the party, with other G40 members, during the 2017 Zimbabwean coup d'état.

Movement for Democratic Change – Tsvangirai Political party in Zimbabwe

The Movement for Democratic Change – Tsvangirai (MDC–T) is a centre-left political party and was the main opposition party in the House of Assembly of Zimbabwe ahead of the 2018 elections. After the split of the original Movement for Democratic Change in 2005, the MDC–T remained the major opposition faction, while a smaller faction, the Movement for Democratic Change – Ncube, or MDC–N, was led by Welshman Ncube.
