The VPRO is a Dutch public broadcaster, that is part of the Dutch public broadcasting system. It was founded in 1926 as a liberal Protestant radio station. In the 1950s and 1960s it gradually became social liberal rather than Protestant, and the original meaning of the acronym was eventually dropped.

The first edition of Buitenhof aired on 3 September 1995, when it succeeded the interview programme Het Capitool. The programme takes its name from the Binnenhof, The Hague, which includes a place Buitenhof.

On June 5, 2018 he was rewarded by the Dutch King Willem-Alexander with the title Knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion, a very high distinction.

Upload Cinema is a Dutch organization that screens bi-monthly, thematic compilation programs of web videos in cinemas. Since 2008, the screenings took place in De Uitkijk, a cinema in Amsterdam. Later, screenings were being held in cinemas in other cities in the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain and at events such as Lowlands music festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam and the Movies that Matter Festival. Schippers who also played the principal character and radio host, Jacques Plafond. Between 10 October 1984 and 30 January 1991, 328 episodes were produced, and it became the VPRO's best-listened radio program.

Hoepla ("Whoops") was a Dutch experimental cultural television show broadcast in 1967. It aimed at a young teenage audience and was notable for being unpredictable and risky in its subject matter, featuring reports, performances, declarations, and interviews that tied in with the subversive atmosphere of the Provo movement. Three episodes were made for the VPRO, and the show caused national controversy when a naked woman, Phil Bloom, appeared on the show, being the first time this happened on Dutch television. A fourth episode was taped but did not air until 2008. The show was written and produced by the team of Wim T. Schippers, Wim van der Linden, Willem de Ridder, and Hans Verhagen.
