Initially offering few features and only supporting a handful of games, development proceeded rapidly and to expand usability such that NESticle is today credited with introducing the concept of recordable playthrough for emulation, as well as providing the capacity for users to create their own graphical hacks via an integrated graphics editor. In pioneering this heightened level of access for users, and providing the tools for fans to hack and remix familiar classics, NESticle has been credited by Spin as representing a milestone toward the development of video game music as a genre.

Lunar Lander is a single-player arcade game in the Lunar Lander subgenre. It was developed by Atari, Inc. and released in August 1979. In the game, the player controls a lunar landing module as viewed from the side and attempts to land safely on the Moon. The player burns fuel points to rotate the module and fires a thruster to counteract gravity, earning points based on the skillfulness and difficulty of the landing. The game resets the module after every successful landing or crash with a new landing terrain and ends when the player runs out of fuel. Players can insert more coins at any time to buy more fuel, allowing for potentially indefinite gameplay.

A total lunar eclipse took place on October 28, 2004, the second of two total lunar eclipses in 2004, the first being on May 4, 2004. Carpenter's Fort on McKenzie's Fork of Paint Lick Creek in Kentucky was established by Zophar Carpenter, a native of New York colony who migrated to western Virginia in the 1750s and to Kentucky about 1788. The fort is also referred to as Zophar Carpenter's Station, and placed "near Suck Fork Creek". Zophar Carpenter served as a drummer in Captain Dickenson's Company of Virginia Rangers in the French & Indian War. He appeared on a 1792 tax list in Madison Co. KY with Edward Carpenter and John Carpenter. He died on February 6, 1798 at age 65 and is interred in the Carpenter Graveyard near Paint Lick, Garrard County, Kentucky.
