Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah Jamote (15 April 1941, in Matiari [1] - 11 March 2011, in Karachi) was a two time Senator and Federal Minister from Sindh, Pakistan. At the time of his death he was the leader of Pakistan Muslim League (F). [2]

Jamote hailed from Matiari. He was married and had three children. [2]

Career

Senator

Jamote served as senator from 1985 to 1994 and then from 1991 to 1997. [3] While there he served as chairmen of a number of standing committees including defence, foreign affairs and labour.

Minister

He served as Federal Minister for Population Welfare during the interim government in 1993. [3]

Jamote served as President of PML-F.

Other activities

Jamote served as President of the Safari and Outdoor Club of Pakistan. [4]

Death

Jamote died at a private hospital in Karachi. He was buried in Matiari where his funeral was attended by a large number of people. Shops in Matiari, Oderolal station, Tajpur, Allah Dino Saand and Shahpur Chakar remained closed out of respect. [2]

Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi was a Pakistani politician who served as the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan for three months, from 6 August 1990 to 6 November 1990. Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi's ancestors were Murids of the Pir's of Sarhandi.

Mir Ghulam Murtaza Bhutto was a Pakistani politician and leader of al-Zulfiqar, a Pakistani left-wing militant organization. The son of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, he earned a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a master's degree from the University of Oxford. Murtaza founded al-Zulfiqar after his father was overthrown and executed in 1979 by the military regime of General Zia-ul-Haq. In 1981, he claimed responsibility for the murder of conservative politician Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi, and the hijacking of a Pakistan International Airlines airplane from Karachi, during which a hostage was killed. In exile in Afghanistan, Murtaza was sentenced to death in absentia by a military tribunal.

Asfandyar Wali Khan Pakistani politician

Asfandyar Wali Khan is a Pashtun nationalist politician who is the president of the Awami National Party (ANP). His father, Abdul Wali Khan, was the party's first president. He is the grandson of Abdul Ghaffar Khan, better known as Bacha Khan; Abdul Ghaffar was the founder of the non-violent Pashtun political movement, Khudai Khidmatgar during British colonial rule in India and a companion of Mahatma Gandhi. Naseerullah Babar Pakistani politician and former Army General

Major-General Naseerullah Khan Babar was a former Interior Minister of Pakistan. He was a retired 2-star general officer in the Pakistan Army, and later career military officer-turned statesman from, the Pakistan Peoples Party. In 1975, Babar took early voluntary retirement from the Pakistan Army to become Governor of NWFP. He joined the Pakistan Peoples Party after Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's government was dismissed in 1977.

Mumtaz Ali Khan Bhutto, was a Pakistani politician who served as 8th Governor of Sindh and later the 13th Chief Minister of Sindh. He was also the first cousin of late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who was the Prime Minister of Pakistan from 1973 to 1977.

Rana Bhagwandas Pakistani judge (1942–2015)

Rana Bhagwandas was a Pakistani jurist who served as a senior judge and acting chief justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (CJP). He enjoyed extremely high reputation as a judge. He remained the acting CJP during the 2007 judicial crisis in Pakistan, and also briefly became the acting Chief Justice of Pakistan when the incumbent Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry went on foreign tours in 2005 and 2006, and thus became the first Hindu and the second non-Muslim to serve as chief of the highest court in Pakistan. Rana Bhagwandas also worked as the Chairman of Federal Public Service Commission of Pakistan. He headed the interview panel for the selection of the federal civil servants in 2009.

Zaheer-ud-din Babar Awan, is a Pakistani politician, senior lawyer, author, analyst, columnist, and leftist writer who served as Adviser to Prime Minister for Parliamentary Affairs from April 2020 to 10 April 2022, and before that as the Federal Law Minister in the cabinet of former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani. Arshad Sami Khan

Arshad Sami Khan ; was a Pakistani diplomat, civil servant and fighter pilot who at peak of his career attained the highest rank of Federal Secretary. He started his career as a Pakistan Air Force fighter pilot and later served 3 Presidents of Pakistan as their aide-de-camp (ADC) and later went on to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he served three Presidents and four Prime Ministers as chief of protocol. He was later appointed as a diplomatic ambassador of Pakistan to 14 countries. This was followed by his appointment as the first Commissioner General of Pakistan. He was also Federal Secretary of Culture and retired as a top BPS-22 grade bureaucratic officer. He was also the father of singer and music composer Adnan Sami.

Azam Khan Swati Pakistani politician and businessman

Azam Khan Swati is a Pakistani politician and a businessman who served as the Federal Minister for Science and Technology and member of Senate of Pakistan from 2006 to 2011. He is the elected senior vice president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Swati, during his stay in the United States, owned a chain of stores, was a member of Pakistani American Congress, played important role in high-profile charity events. He was born in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. He joined the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam. Azam Khan Swati resigned from the Senate and the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, on Saturday 17 December 2011, joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Swati had pursued the Hajj corruption case in the Supreme Court relentlessly, which ultimately forced the government to sack former religious affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi. In 2018 Senate election he was again elected as a senator on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ticket. He has served as Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs from 18 April 2019 to 6 April 2020 in cabinet of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Jehangir Bader was a Pakistani politician and member of Senate of Pakistan, he served as Chairperson-Senate Committee on Parliamentary Affairs. Affiliated with Pakistan Peoples Party since its inception, Jehangir Bader started his political career with the then PPP chairman Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

Zaffar Hussain Mirza was a Pakistani judge and the father of former Home Minister of Sindh Zulfiqar Mirza. He was also the grandfather of Hasnain Mirza.
