Åsne Havnelid (born 28 March 1961) is a Norwegian businessperson and sports official.

She hails from Asker. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the private college Handelsakademiet (now part of BI Norwegian Business School) from 1985, and was hired as a teacher in skiing at the Norwegian School of Elite Sports, a secondary school, in the same year. She served as rector there from 1988 to 1995, and then worked in Olympiatoppen. Here she was the director of Toppidrettssenteret and vice executive of Olympiatoppen under Bjørge Stensbøl. From 2004 to 2007 she worked in SAS Braathens. From 2007 to July 2011 she was the chief executive officer of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011. [1] Since August 2011 she has been working as secretary general at the Norwegian Red Cross. [2]

Asker Municipality in Akershus, Norway

Asker is a municipality in Akershus county, Norway. It is part of the Greater Oslo Region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Asker. The municipality was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838.

BI Norwegian Business School is a private foundation and is accredited by NOKUT as a specialised university institution. BI organised its academic activities in nine separate research departments covering all of the disciplines that can be expected at a modern European business school.

In November 2011 she was nominated to "Citizen of Oslo" by the newspaper Aftenposten Aften for her work during FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011. [3]

The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 took place from 23 February to 6 March 2011 in Oslo, Norway, at the Holmenkollen National Arena. It was the fifth time these championships had been hosted in Holmenkollen, having been done previously in 1930, the 1952 Winter Olympics, 1966, and 1982. On 25 May 2006, the 45th FIS Congress in Vilamoura, Portugal, selected the Holmenkollen area over both Val di Fiemme, Italy, and Zakopane, Poland, with a vote of 12 to 4 to 0. These games coincided with the Holmenkollen Ski Festival as they have previously in 1930, 1952, 1966, and 1982.

She is married and has one child, and resides at Vollen. [1]

Vollen is a part of the Asker municipality in Akershus county, Norway. For statistical purposes, it is usually treated as part of the Oslo urban area. It is mainly a residential area, though the area has a café, a restaurant, several art galleries, a primary school and secondary school.

The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 took place 22 February – 4 March 2007 in Sapporo, Japan. It was the second time this city has hosted these championships, having previously done so in the 1972 Winter Olympics. Sapporo was selected as venue by vote at the 43rd FIS World Congress in Portorož, Slovenia, on 6 June 2002. It also marked the third time the championships were hosted outside Europe in a year that did not coincide with the Winter Olympics; it was the first championship held in Asia. The ski jumping team normal hill event was not held, as it had been in 2005.

Årvoll IL

Årvoll Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from Årvoll, Bjerke, Oslo. It has sections for association football, team handball, volleyball, orienteering and Nordic skiing.

Tryvandshøiden was a planned station on the Holmenkollen Line in Oslo, Norway. It was planned by the company Tryvandsbanen in the early 1910s and partly constructed in 1916 at the end of a single-tracked line from Frognerseteren. A red signalman's house named "Norden" was the station's only facility. Passenger trains never served the station, and the tracks from Frognerseteren to Tryvandshøiden were removed in 1939. The signalman's house was not demolished. In 1993, 2004 and 2008, proposals were made to re-open the station so that it would be more convenient for Oslo residents to use the Tryvann Ski Resort. However, these proposals were all rejected by the operator Oslo Sporveier on the grounds that the extension would be too expensive.

The Women's 30 kilometre freestyle at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 was held on 5 March 2011 at 12:00 CET. Poland's Justyna Kowalczyk is both the defending world and Olympic champion. Norwegian Therese Johaug won after a dash in the steepest hills giving her the lead for most of the race.

Trondheim bid for the 2018 Winter Olympics

Trondheim 2018 was a proposed bid for Trondheim, Norway, to host the 2018 Winter Olympics. Along with Oslo and Tromsø bid, it was one of three options for the Norwegian Olympic Committee, who ultimately chose to not bid for the games.
