The Saladin or Salah ad Din Governorate is a governorate in Iraq, north of Baghdad. The governorate has an area of 24,363 square kilometres (9,407 sq mi). The estimated population in 2003 was 1,042,200 people. The capital is Tikrit; the governorate also contains the significantly larger city of Samarra. Before 1976 the governorate was part of Baghdad Governorate.
The Badr Organization, previously known as the Badr Brigades or Badr Corps, is an Iraqi political party headed by Hadi Al-Amiri. The Badr Brigade was the Iran-officered military wing of the Iran-based Shia Islamic party, Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), formed in 1982. Since the 2003 invasion of Iraq most of Badr's fighters have entered the new Iraqi army and police force. Politically, Badr Brigade and SCIRI were considered to be one party since 2003, but have now unofficially separated with the Badr Organization now an official Iraqi political party. Badr Brigade forces, and their Iranian commanders, have come to prominence in 2014 fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Iraq. It is a part of the Popular Mobilization Forces.
The 2007 Amirli bombing was a suicide car bomb attack that occurred on July 7, 2007, in a market in the town of Amirli, Iraq, whose residents are mainly Shia Turkmens. The bombing killed 156 people with 255 injured.
Amirli also spelt Amerli is a town in the Tooz District of Saladin Governorate, near the border with Diyala Governorate, in northern Iraq, about 100 km from the Iranian border. It has a population of 42,000, mainly from Iraq's Shia Turkoman ethnic minority. It is the centre of a farming region.

Altun Kupri or Altun Kopru is a town north of Kirkuk in Kirkuk Governorate in Iraq. Its population of approximately 9,275 is predominately Turkmen. It is located on the shores of the Little Zab river's Dibis Lake, near the Dibis Dam. The Little Zab river divides the town into three parts: Büyük yaka, Orta yaka, Küçük yaka. It's strategically located on the middle of the Erbil–Kirkuk road.
The Iraqi Civil War was an armed conflict which began in January 2014 and ended in December 2017. In 2014, the Iraqi insurgency escalated into a civil war with the conquest of Fallujah, Mosul, Tikrit and in the major areas of northern Iraq by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. This resulted in the forced resignation of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, as well as airstrikes by the United States, Iran, Syria, and at least a dozen other countries, the participation of Iranian troops and military and logistical aid provided to Iraq by Russia. On 9 December 2017, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced victory over ISIL, though others warned that they expected ISIL to fight on via an insurgency, and by other means. ISIS switched to guerrilla 'hit and run' tactics in an effort to undermine the Iraqi government's effort to eradicate them.
The Siege of Amirli was a siege of the predominantly Shi'ite Turkmen town of Amirli in Iraq by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) during the 2014 Iraq conflict. The town was besieged by ISIS forces from June 2014, lacking access to food, electricity, and water. Most the residents are Shia Turkmen, who have organized local self-defense militias to fight against ISIS. On August 31, the Iraqi military reportedly broke the siege and entered the town. It has been described as "Iraq's Biggest Victory Against ISIS", as of September 2014.

The Salahuddin Campaign was a military conflict in the Saladin Governorate, located in north-central Iraq, involving various factions fighting against a single common enemy, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The province exited Iraqi government control during ISIL's Northern Iraq offensive when large swathes of the north of the country were captured by the militant group with the Iraqi national army quickly disintegrating in the path of its advance. In light of the sweeping gains of the militants, Nouri Al-Maliki, the Prime Minister of Iraq at that time, attempted to declare a state of emergency though the Iraqi Parliament blocked his efforts to do so.
The Battle of Baiji was a battle that took place in Baiji, Iraq. In mid-November 2014, Iraqi forces retook the city of Baiji, and re-entered the Baiji Oil Refinery. However, clashes continued in the region, and on 21 December 2014, ISIL forces captured Baiji and put the Baiji Oil Refinery under siege once again.
Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2015 was the first edition of the Bala Turkvision Song Contest. It was initially scheduled to take place in Mary, Turkmenistan, however, it was moved to Istanbul, Turkey. The contest is the junior equivalent of the Turkvision Song Contest; similar to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest being the younger equivalent of the Eurovision Song Contest.
The participation of Azerbaijan in the Bala Turkvision Song Contest first began in Istanbul, Turkey, at the inaugural Bala Turkvision Song Contest in 2015. Azad Azerbaijan TV (AATV) have been responsible for the selection process of their participants, since their debut in 2015. Nuray Rahman and Ahmed Amirli was the first representative for Azerbaijan at the Bala Turkvision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Cocukluk Yillari", which finished in first place out of thirteen participating entries, achieving a score of one-hundred and fifteen points. As of Bala Turkvision 2015, Azerbaijan have awarded the most points to Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Romania. They have received the most points from Albania, Belarus, Găgăuzia, Georgia, Iran, Macedonia, and Ukraine.
The Battle of Hit (2016), also known as Operation Desert Lynx, was an offensive launched by the Iraqi Government during the Anbar offensive, with the goal of recapturing the town of Hīt and the Hīt District from ISIL. After the Iraqi forces recaptured the city of Ramadi, Hīt and Fallujah were the only cities still under the control of ISIL in the Al Anbar Governorate. Iraqi Forces fully recaptured of Hīt and the rest of the Hīt District on 14 April 2016.
The Fall of Baiji was a battle that took place in and around Baiji, Iraq in June 2014. It was fought between Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) forces and those of the Iraqi government. Its first stage included clashes in the city from 11 to 18 June. The second stage was fighting over the control of Baiji oil refinery from 18 to 21 June. ISIL captured both the town and the refinery. On 19 June 2014, the Iraqi Army retook the a refinery in a counter-attack. Fighting continued in Baiji until October 2014, when government forces finally established control, which they have maintained since.
