1160th Transportation Company (PLS) was constituted on 1 September 2009 in the Georgia Army National Guard to be known as the 1160th Transportation Company (PLS). The 1160th TC (PLS) is a member of the 348th Brigade Support Battalion; 648th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade. The unit was organized on 3 June 2010 from new and existing elements and is located in Rome, Georgia, USA.

Mission

To provide trained, ready and stabilized forces in order to conduct ground transportation for the movement of cargo, breakbulk cargo, ammunition, and bottled water on PLS flat-racks, assist with the Transportation needs of units within the Georgia National Guard under the guidance and direction of the units Higher Headquarters. Be ready to serve the needs of the Citizens by order of the Governor of the State of Georgia by reacting to Emergency and Humanitarian needs on the home front, and be ready, trained and prepared to participate in Over Seas Contingency Operations as directed by the President of the United States.

History

The unit was newly formed and does not have any historical lineage before June 2010, with the original unit becoming Company B, 1st Battalion, 169th General Support Aviation Battalion. [1]

Camp Speicher

Majid al Tamimi Airbase, officially known as the Tikrit Air Academy and formerly as FOB Speicher, COB Speicher, and Al Sahra Airfield is an air installation near Tikrit in northern Iraq. The installation is approximately 170 kilometers north of Baghdad and 11 kilometers west of the Tigris River. Prior to 2003, Al Sahra Airfield was the main base of the Iraqi Air Force Air Academy. The United States Army captured the base from the Iraqi Army during the Iraq War and used it as the headquarters of the United States Division–North. The airfield is served by two main runways measuring 9,600 feet (2,900 m) long with a shorter runway measuring 7,200-foot (2,200 m). The Americans named the airfield after Captain Michael Scott Speicher, a United States Navy pilot who was killed in action in Iraq during the 1991 Gulf War.

The 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team is a modular infantry brigade of the Georgia Army National Guard. One of the oldest units in U.S. Army history, the lineage of the 48th Infantry Brigade can be traced back to 1825. It is one of few units in the US military that also saw service as a unit of the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. Today, the 48th IBCT is part of the U.S. Army's "Associated Units" program where it's aligned under the 3rd Infantry Division, a combined arms combat maneuver unit of the Regular Army.

197th Infantry Brigade (United States) Military unit

The 197th Infantry Brigade is an active Infantry brigade of the United States Army. The brigade was active as an Organized Reserve unit from 1921–1942, in the Regular Army from 1962–1991, and as a TRADOC training unit from 2007–2013. The brigade saw service in Operation Desert Storm with the 24th Infantry Division. On July 31st, 2020 the Brigade was activated as a Training Brigade in Ft. It was established as of October 1, 2013 from the former 78th Homeland Response Force. It is formally designated the "'Region IV HRF / 201st RSG"'. On November 1, 2010, the 201st RSG became the 201st Homeland Response Force. On October 1, 2013, it took its current designation.

648th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Military unit

The 648th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade is a major subordinate command of the Georgia Army National Guard.

4th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) Military unit

The 4th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) is a subordinate command of 377th Theater Sustainment Command. The 4th ESC is located in San Antonio, Texas. The command comprises 54 subordinate units and has command and control of more than 6,500 Army Reserve soldiers throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico. The 4th ESC provides trained and ready forces in support of global contingency operations. On order, the 4th ESC is prepared to deploy and provide command and control to all assigned, attached, and operationally controlled units and will provide sustainment planning, guidance and support to forces in the area of operations.

121st Infantry Regiment (United States) Military unit

The 121st Infantry Regiment is an infantry regiment of the Georgia National Guard that saw combat service in the First and Second World Wars. As a result of army-wide reorganization in the 1950s, the 121st Infantry ceased to exist as a single unit; today, various units of the Georgia National Guard trace their lineage to the 121st Infantry.

348th Brigade Support Battalion (United States) Military unit

The 348th Brigade Support Battalion is a brigade support battalion of the United States Army. It provides direct support level logistics to the 648th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade.
