The Super League Greece 1, or Stoiximan Super League for sponsorship reasons, is the highest professional association football league in Greece. The league was formed on 16 July 2006 and replaced Alpha Ethniki at the top of the Greek football league system. The members of the cooperative are the Football Limited Companies (P.A.E.) that have the right to participate in the Super League 1 championship.

The 1988–89 Alpha Ethniki was the 53rd season of the highest football league of Greece. The season began on 11 September 1988 and ended on 21 May 1989. AEK Athens won their eighth Greek title and their first one in ten years. The championship was decided on the penultimate matchday in an informal final when AEK defeated the host Olympiakos at the Olympic Stadium by 1–0 with a goal by Takis Karagiozopoulos. This match, which essentially decided the title, was met by the very serious incidents between police forces and fans, with dozens injured, more than 7,000 seats broken and damages of 30 million drachmas.

The 1986–87 Alpha Ethniki was the 51st season of the highest football league of Greece. The season began on 7 September 1986 and ended on 7 June 1987. Olympiacos won their 25th Greek title and their first one in four years. The championship was marked by the strike declared by 12 teams in the last three games of the championship. As a result, most of the teams did not come to the last matches of the championship and were punished by deducting 6 points. The only ones who came and were not punished were Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, OFI and Panionios, which took the first four places in the standings.

The Hellenic Athletics Federation is Greece's governing body for amateur sport.

The 1906 SEGAS Championship was the first organised Hellenic Amateur Athletic Association competition to take place in mainland Greece. It took place in March 1906. It was not organised by the HFF and as such it is not recognised by it.

The 1910 SEGAS Championship was the fifth championship organized by SEGAS.

The 1910–11 SEGAS Championship was the sixth championship organized by SEGAS.

The 1933–34 Panhellenic Championship was the sixth season of the highest football league of Greece. It was held in two groups, the South and the North.

The 1938–39 Panhellenic Championship was the tenth season of the highest football league of Greece. 14 teams participated, for the first time so many and for the first time from the province. It was held in two groups, South Group with 8 and North Group with 6 teams, which qualified from the championships of the local associations.

The 1939–40 Panhellenic Championship was the 11th season of the highest football league of Greece and the last before the WW2 took place. It was carried out with a system similar to that of the previous season in which 14 teams participated again, 8 from the Central and 6 from North Greece, which were divided into groups. As in the previous year, in order to complete the championship, since it took a total of 30 matchdays, the teams that qualified for the national championship did not compete with each other again but transferred the mutual results of the local championships.

The 1945–46 Panhellenic Championship was the 12th season of the highest football league of Greece and the first after the WW2. The clubs that participated were the champions from the three founding football associations of the HFF: Athens, Piraeus and Macedonia.

The 1948–49 Panhellenic Championship was the 15th season of the highest football league of Greece. The clubs that participated were the champions from the 3 founding football associations of the HFF: Athens, Piraeus and Macedonia. Panathinaikos won the championship, due to a better goal ratio than Olympiacos. The point system was: Win: 3 points - Draw: 2 points - Loss: 1 point.

The 1952–53 Panhellenic Championship was the 17th season of the highest football league of Greece. It was the last season in which the title of champion was to be claimed by the winning clubs from the three main football associations representing the major urban centers. It was also the last in which the final phase was held with the presence of only three teams, the champions of the above associations.

The 1957–58 Panhellenic Championship was the 22nd season of the highest football league of Greece. Olympiacos won their 14th championship after an interesting race with AEK Athens and Panathinaikos.

Alberto Nahmias was a Greek football player and athlete of Romaniote Jewish descent who played for G.S. Iraklis Thessaloniki. He was one of the most prominent of Greece's football team players of the 1920s and an irreplaceable member of Iraklis F.C. and the newly established Greece national football team.

The Mediterranean Cup was an association football competition contested by men's national teams and national B teams of the states bordering the Mediterranean Sea. The 1967–68 season was the 44th season in the existence of AEK Athens F.C. and the ninth consecutive season in the top flight of Greek football. They competed in the Alpha Ethniki, the Greek Cup and the Balkans Cup. The season began on 7 October 1967 and finished on 31 August 1968.
